After Ferguson, law enforcement learned that there was no cost to targeting the press, and, in fact, it was an ideal tactic to do so.

We really need to talk about the warring definitions of "political violence"
There are things that I consider to be political violence that are widely accepted, so posts like this make little sense.
If by political violence, you mean hurting republicans is bad, then sure, we've had that consensus

It's worth mourning the end of a 40ish-year-long broad American consensus that political violence is a bad thing, one that leads to lots of innocent people getting hurt and killed. We've been watching that consensus erode consistently since 2016 at the latest and now it's fully gone.

I can’t speak for every city, but here in LA, ICE bounty hunters aren’t going after gang members. They’re hunting the vulnerable: gardeners, street vendors, day laborers.

I know the military PR is good bc I haven't heard about EITHER of these incidents.
And both would, in a society not built on harm and genocidal tools, demanded massive changes and investigations about what was happening.
Of course, such a society wouldn't reach those points to begin with.
