Biggest red flag for trans women is being a swiftie—like I’ve met a couple cis women that can kind of get away with it but if you’re forged through the fires of transmisogyny and your taste hasn’t developed past TSwift obsession there is something spiritually vacuous about you

Sarah McBride is an excellent example of how identitarian representation in public space cannot be the only metric of value - if given the choice between McBride and a cis white man with reliably good politics I'd pick the latter because her positionality only helps if she uses understanding to act.

A decade ago and pre-transition when I had plenty of money I always struggled knowing what to tell people I wanted for gifts and rarely bought things for myself—now that I have impeccable taste and want many things I am disabled and have no money. Funny how the world works!
