This is an outstanding article. Cuts directly to the truth and reality. Also, US & EU economies are ~22X larger than Russia's, so if we just had the political will we could easily bury Russia in Ukraine under a mountain of military assistance. This is Putin's greatest fear in Ukraine.

Most Americans have no understanding what life in an authoritarian system is truly like. They don't understand that dictatorship throws rocket fuel on the embers of corruption, or that people have no protection against authorities that eagerly take their property, freedom, and lives on any whim.
Multiple times this year I’ve had coffee with fellow immigrants who grew up in corrupt third world countries and the shared sentiment has been that Americans don’t understand how bad things are going to get.
