today officially marks 9 years since I moved to Japan 🥰 I honestly still can't believe it sometimes but I'm so so glad I took the plunge and applied to JET and went for all 5 years (technically 6 since covid let me stay an extra year) and took another plunge and stayed after my contract was up

this is more translation adjacent but if as translator or adapter you write a particular speech quirk for a major character you will have to continue writing every single line of theirs that way for the entire rest of the thing. plan accordingly
To my fellow translators: what do you wish someone had taught you about translation (whether the act or translation or having a freelance job) that you had to learn by yourself?
