David Osit’s documentary PREDATORS is now streaming on Paramount Plus for anyone, like me, who has been curious to check it out and missed it at Sundance and during its brief theatrical run.

Where’d I get it: Estate sale last weekend.

Why’d I get it: A nice copy, pretty rare and it was 5 for $1.

On Spotify: Yes

How many plays: 2

Verdict: I knew Vincent from “Be-Bop-A-Lula” and from his appearance in THE GIRL CAN’T HELP IT. Really enjoyed this primitive rock. 8/10

Keep or sell: Keep

Good mail day. All three are unseen by me. I’m glad I was patient and waited for a great release of THE HOUSE WITH LAUGHING WINDOWS, which I’ve been desperate to see for quite some time.

I switched to Tidal because Spotify seems like a shitty company, here are some details from the Tidal wrap.

I played the new Teethe and Hotline TNT albums a lot and really enjoyed the Tacoma Radar reissue from Numero. I’ll post a best of 2025 list sometime in January, when I’ve heard more.

First visit to Barnes & Noble for this Criterion sale, they didn’t have most of what I was looking to find.

Sometimes you go to the thrift store and they have a rare Devo bootleg. This one was stuffed inside a minty copy of Sade’s STRONGER THAN PRIDE (I would have plenty happy to have the Sade record).

The thoroughly depraved THE LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET as an unannounced extra on the Vinegar Syndrome blu ray for CORRUPTION.
I still haven't gotten around to HERE (was vainly hoping to see it in a cinema), but GHOST TROPIC is fucking major, up there with Hong's HILL OF FREEDOM for "how is *THIS* a B-side for a release?!?".

(As an aside: what's your favourite "oh, let's slide an extra feature film on this disc" release?)
Finally, coming in March 2026, Bas Devos' HERE which will also include his previous film GHOST TROPIC. More details coming very soon...

God what an amazing career Udo Kier had.

MEGADOC is available to rent or buy digitally. Only bummer is that it’s not twice the length and doesn’t take us into the editing room. Fascinating and very entertaining film.

At thrift store and they have a ton of 90s low budget action movies on laserdisc. Not really sure how much of this I should buy. I wish they weren’t $5.99 each.

Since moving near Santa Monica, I have met so many rich women who rely on expensive psychics. I had no idea it was a thing.

Local thrift store has “Dear Me,” Peter Ustinov’s autobiography, here’s the section where we talks about working on LOLA MONTES and calls Max Ophüls “a German giggler who lived in his own particular stratosphere of subtlety.” Enjoy.

Top five after “Various” which was the favorite. This list will probably change a bit once I’ve finished cataloging my 7” collection.

I should trim down by King Gizzard and Segall collections a bit. Not all of those are essential.

Crazy. I have this same notecard on my computer.

ONCE WERE WARRIORS was a big one for me when I was a kid, I haven’t seen it in decades but I’m sure it still packs a wallop. I watch THE EDGE every few years, that’s a very rewatchable movie.

It’s also the best movie of the decade.

I know he’s not popular on here but I still mostly like Gavin Newsom. I’ll always remember how early and loud his support was for gay marriage. He was way out in front of most of the Democratic Party on that issue.
