“Under the former they correspond to extrajudicial or arbitrary executions; under IHL they correspond to war crimes and under the latter they may amount to crimes against humanity,” Tidball-Binz said.

The UN Special Rapporteur said: “if the images were genuine”, these were “unlawful killings under International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Criminal Law.”

Bellingcat showed the footage to Morris Tidball-Binz, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.

Of the more than 80 casualties visible in various videos, a couple can be seen wearing what appears to be dark, military-style clothing, and one can be seen lying next to a belt of ammunition. Although, it is unclear who the belt belonged to.

In videos showing the aftermath of the attack, none of the casualties visible appeared to be in possession of weapons; almost all appeared to be dressed in civilian clothing and several were women.

In a video filmed early on in the attack on the convoy, individuals in what appear to be RSF uniforms can be seen taking cover behind a vehicle as gunfire is heard. One fighter closes in on the burning convoy and aims his weapon.

Bellingcat geolocated one video to the far side of the berm. In it the RSF commander known as Abu Lulu can be seen and heard taunting a group of 10 male captives sitting lined up on the ground, forcing them to praise the RSF and denigrate the military before they are shot. bsky.app/profile/bell...
Bellingcat has geolocated footage of a mass killing outside the recently captured Sudanese city of El Fasher. In the video, which has circulated widely online, RSF commander Abu Lulu can be seen firing his weapon at what appears to be ten unarmed men sitting on the ground. Image: @vantortech

Tire tracks visible in the sand appear to link the massacre site with the checkpoints along the sand berm. Fresh marks appeared on satellite images after October 27th the day of the RSF’s complete takeover of Al Fashir. Image: @vantortech
November 5, 2025 at 3:25 PM
In total, the footage we verified shows more than 80 bodies, lying beside damaged and burning vehicles along the berm, inside the adjacent trench and spread across the area beyond it.
November 5, 2025 at 3:25 PM
With videos filmed by fighters, some with what appears to be visible RSF insignia, we were able to map the exact locations of the killings (13.71340, 25.27854) and confirm that clusters of objects around several vehicles in satellite imagery correspond to groups of bodies seen in the footage.
November 5, 2025 at 3:25 PM
An RSF berm built months before the takeover encircles the city. Satellite imagery shows a convoy trapped by the berm while attempting to flee Al Fashir via one of its main roads. We identified the location by looking at fire damage in the area.
