Let’s be clear: the decision by the FA and others to bar trans women from sport is not a requirement on them by the Supreme Court ruling. It is a choice they have made to be exclusionary and intolerant. That’s a choice they are now free to make after the a ruling, but still a choice.

For many years, the FA had stringent and carefully considered policies in place regarding the inclusion of trans women in the women’s game. These policies involved strict eligibility criteria, including hormone level monitoring, and we supported the processes that were implemented. Under those guidelines, trans women were able to play without incident. They were welcomed by teammates, coaches and supporters, becoming valued members of their clubs and making a positive contribution to the sport. Importantly, there has been no football-specific evidence to suggest that, under the previous policies, trans women posed a risk to fairness or safety. Scientific research has shown that trans women who have undergone hormone therapy do not possess any significant performance advantage over cis women. Being allowed to play football has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on the physical and mental health of many trans women. We know of numerous individuals who have found not only joy in the game but also friendship, community and purpose through their involvement in their clubs. To have that taken away so suddenly, without meaningful consultation or justification, is devastating. The FA frequently promotes the idea of “Football for All”, but this decision stands in direct contradiction to that principle. By excluding an entire group based on their gender identity, the FA isolates itself from the growing number of football associations internationally that continue to welcome trans women in the game. We are also seriously concerned about the wider repercussions of this decision. Already, we are seeing an increase in transphobic abuse across social media platforms. Decisions like this embolden…

Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.
