During this investigation there has been an alarming focus on the suspect's gender identity by the police and by others, all this does is get people to target trans individuals for reasons that make no sense. As it is pointed out in this video, there is no evidence that this "pattern" is even true.

I think it’s too early to speculate as I have heard conflicting reports and law enforcement is being very tight lipped which is only fueling rumours. However I lived in the BC peace region for a decade and can confirm it’s more ‘Berta than Alberta.
