I also suspect that taking back into public ownership will make it *harder* to controll fares. Governments are always much more careful with their own revenue than they are with private sector revenue.

I get that, but the underlying cause of that is that the state has forgotten that people *always* hate things before, and when, they're built, but often come to love them afterwards

On top of that, who looks at the UK and thinks "you know what our problem is? People are saving *too much* for retirement"
