Archetypal example is “capitalism ground me down so I quit my job and set up a small business so that I’m my own boss”. You didn’t dislike capitalism! You disliked authority!

This government in particular has shown itself increadibly willing to pass the costs and duty for implementation of social policy onto private buisness rather than convince hmt to relax the purse strings

A cpuple of simple examples, 1. what are the relative legal consequences if you don't pay a sky tv bill vs not having a TV licence?
2. In the year before privitisation british gas disconnected 6,000 homes for non payment. In GB the last year when there were more than 10 disconnections was 2015.

I also suspect that taking back into public ownership will make it *harder* to controll fares. Governments are always much more careful with their own revenue than they are with private sector revenue.

Also, enforcong social norms against racism is *good* even if it doesnt win an election. Make racists ashamed again.

"An alternative alliance based on peace and diplomacy" very much gives the game away tbh.

What’s the most deprived place of its size in the country? Blackpool, probably.
What Blackpool have a competitive advantage in? Ballroom dancing.
Which public national institution, with a track record of successfully relocating to the north west, runs Strictly?

They should move it

I'm just glad that story came out before kahn was mayor. Can you imagine what the terminally online transatlantic racists would have done with that?

On a related note, who remembers all the complaints about crossrail being an unwanted waste of money? Now the biggest problem with the elizabeth line is that it wasnt prepared for how popular it would be
November 22, 2025 at 2:40 PM
I get that, but the underlying cause of that is that the state has forgotten that people *always* hate things before, and when, they're built, but often come to love them afterwards

On top of that, who looks at the UK and thinks "you know what our problem is? People are saving *too much* for retirement"

I'm sure i could slip one in somewhere when no one was looking.
