It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

In a late-night memo Saturday, the Agriculture Dept told states to cut full food stamp benefits & threatened penalties for those who don’t comply.

Forty-two million Americans rely on SNAP to eat. Washington’s cruelty is officially their policy.

House Democrats Furious That Their Senate Colleagues Are 'Caving' On Shutdown: 'Unconditional Surrender!'
A number of Democratic representatives on Sunday vented they do not support their Senate colleagues "caving" on a deal to end the government shutdown if it excludes an extension on Obamacare subsidies

Clarifying on the procedural posture: this was a motion to invoke cloture *on the motion to proceed* to the House CR. MTP = starting debate, which also allows them do the gut-and-replace amendment on it they still need. It will still have to clear cloture proper (60 votes) on the final bill itself.

Trump and GOP have shown they don’t care about the rule of law or the powers the Constitution gives to Congress, so why does Schumer and Senate Dems think this one time they will?

I recognize this is, to some extent, cope/bargaining, but

this is the the first of several votes necessary to end the shutdown, right? so even the present unfathomable fecklessness doesn't mean it's over over, and there are multiple potential blockage points ahead to reject a no-concessions 'deal'?

Under Schumer's leadership, eight Democrats (Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King, Rosen, & Shaheen) joined the Republicans in moving forward a bill to reopen the government without ACA subsidies—Dems' stated key aim—or any other real concessions from the status before the shutdown.

Even if the government opened back up tonight, I guarantee you the Republicans will not fund SNAP, pay out any of the backpay to the furloughed workers, rehire anyone who was fired, or hold a vote on the ACA subsidies

This whole thing is pointless

Unacceptable. There are 189,000 people in my district who will be paying 50–300% more for the same, and in many cases worse, healthcare.

I won’t do that to the people I represent. I’m a NO on this “deal.”
