low-poly mechanic
and here's what the texture looks like currently.

and lastly here's a screenshot of the texture itself. the details will change but what's most important now is that i don't overshoot how much space i'm using in my 128x128 file.

this step is mostly Aseprite + picoCAD, w/ some double-checking done in the webviewer (i try to keep that to a minimum because i realize this workflow is already a bit ludicrous).

here's how the same texture file looks in the webviewer:

so the process up until this point has been:
picoCAD to model > picoCAD Toolkit to combine models > picoCAD webviewer to view combined models

DISCLAIMER: picoCAD is a lot of fun to work in "vanilla", none of what i'm doing outside the original software is necessary.

however, the picoCAD webviewer still allows me to view the combined models.

from this point forward i'll use the webviewer to double-check changes to the individual parts that might impact the final version.

the picoCAD toolkit is a super useful tool, and allows me to skirt some of the restraints inherent to picoCAD.

here's the "subject" of the scene, a downed mech that will be slumped over into a building/whatever environment i decide on.

i'll use a cube to outline where the model is, duplicate the file, and then delete the model (saving the cube/outline). this way i can line up disparate files without keeping unnecessary detail.

real-time updates as i get to each major step, and i'm going to collate this into one thread after a "final" model is done.

music + export:

the last step (although often the first, i'll start with a tune and model afterwards) is to pair the model w/ music. i add a bit of distortion (bulge, glow, vignette, etc) for fun.
