basketball and soccer obsessive. Books, too many books.
Raps played really well in the first zipping the ball around. Second quarter the bench gave them nothing, and the lack of energy leaked onto the returning starters, who were terrible. Non-Brunson Knicks leveled up nicely to build the lead.

I give KAT so much crap but that dunk was awesome (and he’s had an excellent second quarter)

As far as drunk quarters of Cup basketball go that was very entertaining as a neutral. Diehard fans of either team would be appalled at the defense.

KAT’s propensity for dumb fouls simply can not be unlearned, seems stamped into his DNA.

So the entire Chiefs team got CTE in the fourth quarter? Incredible implosion starting with Mahomes’ INT to start the 4th, but the decision to go for it & gift HOU field position was absolutely mind boggling.

Knicks start the 4thQ with three straight 3s to seemingly blow it open…then proceed to crap the bed for most of the following 8 minutes to make it close. Nice close by Brunson and some quality play by Hart help salvage the win.

Wolves have it tied at 101 with OKC with a chance to take the lead. Timeout, followed by DDV turnover, McDaniel TO, McDaniel missed jumper, two missed Gobert FTs, Randle five second violation. Can’t beat the best finishing like that.

Haven’t had a chance to watch the Clippers much this season but I’ve followed the discourse. Still stunning to see just how decrepit they look beyond Harden. Kawhi looks like he gained three more years just from the Aspiration scandal.

Suggs being ejected while Drummond stays in the game seems absurd, but I guess the only physical contact of note in the scrum was initiated by Suggs.

If the Nico news is true, you still have to ask who else knew and when did they know it in Dallas.

I’m currently in another country with no access to the game and I don’t even follow baseball closely anymore, and I can still feel the tension all the way out here just sneaking a peek at Gameday.

I was crushed years ago when AT and Bonner led the Sun past the Sky (and my fave Candace Parker) years ago — but I’ve got nothing but mad respect for the way they teamed up to lead the Mercury past the Lynx. AT is a winner, straight up, hope she gets her ring to cap it off.
September 29, 2025 at 2:12 AM
One thing I’ll give the Lynx is they’ve played well with Phee absent if the injury is bad, so the road is far from clear for PHX to make the finals. Would have to be a really severe injury to keep Phee out though.
September 27, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Dominant as the Lynx have been all season, there’s been a subtle drop in the consistency of their effort relative to last season’s peaks. Carleton and Smith have been mediocre to poor in this series. AT has effectively muzzled the Phee/Williams PnRs & MN often looks disjointed.

On cue, Kahleah says in the postgame interview “I had to remind myself of who I was” lol. Been a long road to recovery from her injury, but tonight was encouraging.

Said after Game 2 I wasn’t sure the Mercury had enough offense to win this series. Lo and behold, Copper and Sabally come through with maybe their best games of the playoffs, and Phee (even before the injury) clearly wore down in the 2nd H. If not for Heideman, might have been a rout.
September 27, 2025 at 3:49 AM
I hope Phee is OK though, really hope the ankle tweak isn’t as bad as it looked based on her expression upon falling on the floor.
September 27, 2025 at 3:44 AM
That’s a clean strip by AT, Reeve wasting an awful lot of energy getting ejected for that no-call.
September 27, 2025 at 3:43 AM
Still don’t think the Mercury have quite enough on offense to win this series (esp with Copper being below her best), but they’ve shown how much they can muck things up. Really fascinated to see what happens in Phoenix.
September 24, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Whitcomb made a massive shot to send it to OT, but that win was led by Alyssa Thomas. Just love how AT has no fear and blows up everything on defense in big moments.
September 24, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Satou with the volleyball spike off Carleton, and the ball goes back to the Mercury and that’s game over.
September 24, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Sami Whitcomb turned the opening series against the Liberty decisively, still making an impact against the best team in the W. Having a hell of a playoff run.
September 24, 2025 at 1:33 AM
Virtually every Liberty player of note suffered an injury that threw them off for multiple games. But poor attention to detail afflicted them all season. Every good WNBA team managed good wins this season short-handed, NYL by contrast underachieved.
September 20, 2025 at 3:30 AM
Liberty letting Thornton go & losing Laney for the season put too much pressure on Stewie to carry the defense all season. Fiebich didn’t level up, JJ had a down year. Sabrina improved but injuries affected her too. And the bench…
