basketball and soccer obsessive. Books, too many books.
Late to this, but really glad @sabreenajm.bsky.social laid out the argument against WNBA expansion so thoroughly. One of the best ways I can sell the WNBA to friends is to take them to a game, and have them marvel at how intense even the average weekday game can be.

For some strange reason, tonight’s blowout made me flashback to this…Shai and J Dub better hope it works out for them the same way it worked for Cleveland in 2018

ESPN flashed this graphic and looking at the 86-87 Lakers on this list reminded me that Game 4 of the Finals — the Magic Johnson “baby sky hook” game — played out very similarly. Celtics in control until a massive Laker closing run.

Did not expect this to be the way Denver is in position to take this game in the 4th quarter

Immediately after ESPN flashed this graphic, Russ created the game winning turnover with a deflection off Harden.

Great graphic of teams’ shooting from best to worst, courtesy of @automaticnba.bsky.social. So many nuggets, just highlighted the ones that blew my mind the most. Orlando being a top 10 net rating team despite subterranean shooting is really something.

Half an hour until game time, great vibe and earlier arriving crowd for the Liberty and Sun at Barclays.

I loved the performance of the Spain women at the World Cup — sports wise a highlight of the summer— but there was always a sick feeling underneath. Hoping there can be real change now.
