If you sign a lot of anything - books, posters, photos, cards, etc - you usually develop a specific signature for those signings that is distinctive enough to be recognized as yours and also something you can consistently knock out in a couple of seconds without destroying your wrist/arm doing it.
I feel like, by the end of an hour, people would be asking if I signed a book or a prescription slip.

Yes.
My wife just found these cleaning out some bins. Should we call a museum or an archaeologist or something?

The audience.
@straczynski.bsky.social So, I was rewatching Babylon 5 with my boyfriend, who is seeing it for the first time, and I realized.

Who would win in a smug-off between Bester and Morden?

Yuuuup. There is a straight line that connects Metropolis to The Matrix, and it runs through Blade Runner (among other things).
It is something watching a piece of famous old media, it feeling all trope-y, and realizing that's where the tropes CAME from.

"Metropolis" and "Forbidden Planet" both felt that way for me.

Actually it was Athena as a teen mentioning how many cultural references she got only through watching Family Guy, which seemed unnatural until I remembered that Looney Tunes served exactly that function for me for cultural references from the 30s, 40s and 50s.
which begs the question - what's your Moment?

I'm not sure yet what mine is, but hearing Greenday on the classic rock station is right up there with my daughter referring to my childhood as "the 1900s" as if it were the deep past of sainted memory.

I watched it because you were involved and then got into the Wachowskis. It's one of my all time favourite shows alongside that other thing you wrote. What was it called again?

Oh dang that's a cool shot. Tethys is one of several Saturn moons with a whopping huge crater. If whatever hit it had been much bigger or faster the moon would've been blown apart. That's why you don't usually see bigger craters (with respect the moon diameter) on these objects.

D'oh! I'm 20 minutes late to wish you a happy solstice! At 10:03 Eastern US time the Sun reached its most southern point on the sky, and will slowly begin to crawl farther north every day. This means today has the least amount of daytime of the year, and nights get shorter from here on out!

Just making sure no one wants to visit the US.
Or what?
This is pure insanity.
NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

Pretty cool halo around the Moon in Virginia just now. Ice crystals high up in the atmosphere bend the light to form the ring and can also break it up into colors like a rainbow, though the colors are usually faint. That's a hens and chicks plant lit by the Moon in the foreground, BTW.

I mean, I've only blocked (checks) 2,727 accounts in all the time I've been here, that's not a HUGE number comparatively speaking. I've been blocked by five times that number of accounts, and good for them, if people find me annoying here they should block me and have a better Bluesky experience.
"Not blocked by John Scalzi" should be a badge that shows on one's account if one has replied to John Scalzi and not been blocked.
