Guess SEPTA wants to buy Exo's old comet fleet. Shapiro is cracking open the emergency funds to do quite a bit

(I'm gonna excuse calling the MARC cars silverliners. They're pretty much cousins both go back to Budd)

Couple bits in writing: They acknowledge the stop spacing as an issue that was raised in outreach

Also the capital side of this would've been meant $150 million for upgrades.. (we'll see how much of that can happen. iirc, some of the end-of-line projects have been put off)

They intend to approve a statement of work for Corridor ID Step 2 with the expectation the NOFO goes out in November (probably December, or January..) including the Step 2 schedule

Also last months minutes mention how HB 1146 could help get Schuylkill River rail faster if passed
November 22, 2025 at 3:33 AM
West Chester Rail Committee gave it's quarterly update this month:
-They believe they've made it into the 2025 Rail Plan, PennDOT was 'receptive' in meetings
-Service down to 8rts per day from 18rt, SEPTA recommends meeting only the busiest RR arrivals and departures
November 21, 2025 at 12:18 PM
SEPTA gets $43 million for new hybrids, and PennDOT, on behalf of smaller rural agencies, gets $2 million for new compressed natural gas buses

They're calling it the transit funding omnicrisis

(Their explainer tweet also adds a bit to the story. I can't think of any other agency in the US that still uses trolley poles in tunnels)

Upcoming package of housing bills made the consponsorship memo page today

They'd create:
-A Residential Economic Development District (REDD) grant program to be paired with job creating projects
-System of preapproved designs
-Housing opportunity agency
-State housing ombudsman

Anyway since my musings earlier reminded me of this... forget extending the P&W to KOP, but consider extending the P&W to Downingtown. Apparently the Red Arrow did for a short time

Going to file this under "Aged in a Fascinating Way," but I forgot that Marvel had a plot point in one of the Avengers series where Russia unilaterally makes Count Dracula ruler of Chernobyl (you know a part of Ukraine), and this came out before the special military operation
November 16, 2025 at 2:54 AM
This is weird, the RFP for SEPTA to buy new trolley buses has been extended a lot, it's now due in December, the original due date was in June

Also, New Flyer and Solaris are the interested builders according to the attendance of the pre-bid meeting

SEPTA looking for consultants for the Silverliner VI procurement. Needed to help receive and grade out proposals, design and execute facilities upgrades, and basically be able to fly out and make sure the builder isn't doing anything boneheaded that'll mess things up
November 12, 2025 at 4:00 PM
The new New Avengers run references how a bunch of Marvel's heroes canonically have a cosmic scale body count after the 2013-2015 Avengers run (and Marvel editorial's decision to ignore the fact that storyline ends with its events being undone and just continue as if they weren't)
November 10, 2025 at 4:51 AM
Well, obviously, the solution here is to enforce my proposal for ending the balkanization of Greater Wildwood and institute One Big Wildwood (OBWW)

Here is the example render that made it into the capital budget document two years ago.

They want this, if nothing else, but are open to ideas as long as it's in spec

So basic hits: married pairs by default, structure could be steel or aluminum (so long as it passes the buff strength test), normal cars or airport cars which would have additional luggage racks quarter point platform doors with steps on the ends

Bids due April 2026, deliveries by 2030

Found a YouTube channel that's been digitizing film reels one of which was someone filming the last day of service to Reading Terminal. Imagine that station approach nowadays had we not gotten the tunnel

Also Temple Station used to look like crap before Railworks in the 1990s
