Good evening and TGIF,

WHEW!

Let's wind down now and call it a week.

Tonight, we'll contemplate words of insight with unexpected origins.

May you rest, breathe, read, and drink a big glass of water in a quiet, warm place.

The Department of Homeland Security is using administrative subpoenas, a secretive tool issued without a judge's signature, to go after people lawfully reporting ICE activity or criticizing DHS policies.

This is a direct attack on our First Amendment rights and we're fighting back.
Homeland Security is trying to force tech companies to hand over data about Trump critics | TechCrunch
The use of administrative subpoenas, which are not subject to judicial oversight, are used to demand a wealth of information from tech companies, including the owners of anonymous online accounts documenting ICE operations.

This is what Nicolás Maduro did in Venezuela. Nationalize voting, then clamp down on journalists and appoint only partisan judges. Becoming a dictator one step at a time. 🗽

Trump called for Republicans to, “take over voting in 15 states in the country.”

Trump calling on his own party to nationalize voting is just more dangerous, autocratic poison.

Our democracy is at risk, and it’s all the President’s fault.

This is, quite frankly, complete bullshit. I’ve received more criticism, harassment, and — at one point — calls for my death in the past six months of criticizing this administration than I did in an entire FBI career of investigations, operations, and arrests. And I never wore a goddamn mask.
Tillis says he opposes ICE being barred from wearing masks: "I've seen people dox me. I've seen people take pictures and identify law enforcement officers and then put their families at risk. So, I think that's a step too far."

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

So, Noem just said that she works specifically at the pleasure of 1 of 5 White House Deputy Chiefs of Staff.

Why is Noem, a cabinet official, taking orders from a subordinate of Chief of Staff Susie Wiles?

And why did Hegseth basically give Noem a say on NG activities last yr? Was that Miller too?
The Secretary of Homeland Security is asserting that the Deputy White House Chief of Staff ultimately bears responsibility for the murder of two American citizens, which is something that would normally generate a dozen congressional inquiries.

Can we please protect the children?

I remember being a kid and being told to go back to Africa. And that was before Trump. Kids right now have it so much worse. The cruelty is louder, more public, more sanctioned.

Shelter the little ones. No one deserves this treatment, but especially not them.
