“When it comes to the genocide of Gaza, the Berlinale “has to stay out of politics. But when it comes to Ukraine, the Berlinale “has to speak out.”
“All of western liberalism’s much-vaunted institutions..have collapsed in on themselves to protect a genocidal, apartheid ethno-state”
Yesterday Wim Wenders, the director of the Berlinale film festival, when asked about Gaza said "we have to stay out of politics." In 2024 he said "the Berlinale is the most political film festival. It always speaks out." Liberal values are a lie

The Illusion Of Liberal Humanitarian Values

Today, under the cover of the Liberals tearing each other down, Labor has approved another coal mine extension.

Extending Middlemount to 2044 means Labor has now approved 35 fossil fuel projects.

In the middle of the climate crisis, they're approving more coal & gas.

The most charitable interpretation of Chris Minns' actions and words is that he doesn't understand basic concepts like art, speech, assembly, democracy, disagreement and human emotion. He constantly looks perplexed, like an under-6s soccer coach.

Is Chris Minns channeling Donald Trump? - Michael West
It took two Labor leaders to help produce Monday night's violence in Sydney, proving Labor is not immune to a touch of the Trumps.

Absolutely huge crowd in Melbourne right now.

People from all backgrounds, ages and professions - united in opposition to genocide and war.

This is what social cohesion looks like.

What does justify a royal commission is the actions of the NSW government and NSW Police in the lead-up to and events of last night in the Sydney CBD. Any internal investigation will have no credibility.

We'll say it again: "social cohesion", to those who chant it, means maintenance of the status quo which privileges them, and silencing of everyone else. In the mouth of a Labor MP, it is an expression of the deepest hypocrisy.

If the NSW government has any interest in maintaining faith with its own public, it will ask the DPP to investigate police actions on Monday night without NSW Police involvement, with a view to prosecuting the cops who committed assaults. Or it can carry on blaming the victims; Minns' choice.
