You are right; they seem the right thing to do and yet there was a historic agreement between Mauritius and the UK. I respect the court’s decision but it just doesn’t add up! I doubt the Chagossians will directly benefit from the deal!

The UK is paying Mauritious money; those affected were the residents of the islands but how are we sure that they will receive the funds? Even when the UK paid Mauritious £3m years ago by taking over the island, it is said the funds didn’t reach the displaced residents of the islands!

Was there anyway to challenge that decision? Did governments explore that option?
