The Sunday before last. The route was Ann Arbor, Dexter, Chelsea, Taylor, Maumee, Toledo.

307 miles (~500km) in my very stinky work van 🫠
A very busy route that heads west from Detroit to the western rural Ann Arbor-ish area, before heading back to the southern Detroit metro. From there I went west down I94 to US23 which took me to Maumee, Ohio. I did one last stop in Toledo before heading back up I75.

"Royal Oak Township," Oakland County Michigan

Ridge Road is an old pathway of the Saginaw Trail network of roads developed by the indigenous people (mostly Ojibwe) who traveled regularly between the Detroit River and Saginaw Bay.
A historic plaque reading: "RIDGE ROAD" "One of the historic trails leading out of Detroit and built on a sandy ridge to avoid swamplands on either side, Ridge Road was originally part of the Saginaw Trail. This route meandered north from Detroit to Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw and finally terminated at the Straits of Mackinac. Originally an Indian pathway connecting Indian villages on the Detroit River with those in Oakland County and other interior areas, the Saginaw Trail was widened by federal troops in 1819. In the years that followed, settlers by the thousands, traveling by covered wagon, ox cart and stagecoach, used the Ridge section of the trail to reach homesteads in Oakland and other inland counties. It has remained a vital highway ever since. The City of Pleasant Ridge incorporated as a village in 1919 derives its name in part from this road." It became a turnpike when Michigan gained statehood. A land route developed by Native Americans during a time when rivers were the principal network to travel.
