Cautionary tale.

This is an artist who had a movie made about him.

I think it was called 'We Love You, Herb Trimpe'.

He became some kind of minister in the end.

When I met him in 2010, he seemed genuinely touched at the long line of fans and also pros coming up to shake his hand and talk with him.

I was able to get a sketch of Wolverine from him.

That's how I also know his work, though I am getting more into his Hulk work from the 70's.

Read it a long while ago. I wouldn't call it one of Alan Moore's best, but it's solid.

It's basically a murder mystery and trial with a pretty interesting plot twist, and it ties in to his Supreme run, particularly the continuity thing he does with all interpretations of Supreme and other...

His backgrounds were excellent! He could also frame shots properly.

Liefeld also cribbed a lot from Art Adams.

About the same time Liefeld formed Image, Andrew Wildman was working on late run GI Joe. He did the same kind of big muscles and guns art RL did but he could lay out action, was more consistent with details and was just a better artist over all. I wish he had half the fame RL got.

I’ve seen samples of Moore’s scripts. A tremendous amount of detail in them, but he gives some flexibility to his collaborators if they want to improve on things. Liefeld probably short-circuited reading the scripts and defaulted to “muscles on top of muscles”.

I get he has defenders, and some of the criticism isn't really fair, but his schtick is done better by a lot of other artists who actually do try.

It happened with Supreme,too.

Sprouse, Rick Veitch, even Jim Starlin all did issues, and then Liefeld's parts would always look much worse.

... Characters in flat poses in a completely empty white space void. None of the effort in the writing transferred to the actual art.

However, I read the collected edition where better artists, Sprouse, Kane, ect did chapters and all those were excellent.

This is the only R-rated movie I know in recent memory, but Deadpool and Wolverine made 1.3 billion. Where Transformers One was PG and flopped (but that was a net good, because Paramount bribed Epstein's best friend Trump; they don't deserve the money).

What are they on about?
