16 years, 9 months and 9 days is the record for the oldest Jay in Britain & Ireland!

The bird was ringed as an adult in Skelton, York in September 1966, but sadly, it was killed by a car in the same spot 16 years later.

Fantastic day again on #anglesey at #Newborough and #LlanddwynIsland. Not often at this time of year you ‘need’ to take your coat off. New for the year were Crossbill, Purple Sandpiper, Shag, GSW, Coal Tit. Apparently my wife had the opposite over in Talacre where it rained all day. #birdingWales

This was an amazing encounter from 2005 in South Luangwa, #Zambia. A pride of lions had made a kill that morning - that is blood and "stomach contents" all over this lion's face. #lion #Africa #SouthLuangaw #RoadTrip

This is not a model. This is a "fossilised" taxidermy of a Woolly Rhino, discovered in Starunia mine in Carpathian Poland (now Ukraine) in 1929. Dating to the Pleistocene, its exquisite preservation is owed to a mixture of brine, oil and clays. 🧵

A new report from the BTO has revealed encouraging signs for several of the UK's breeding songbirds, following a notably successful nesting season in 2025:
Fine summer brings breeding boost for UK songbirds, BTO reports
A warm, settled spring and summer in 2025 delivered above-average breeding success for many UK songbirds, offering a timely boost after the disastrous wet season of 2024, according to new data from the British Trust for Ornithology.

Snow baths for both Ravens today. I’m sure if I watched other birds as closely I’d see how they all have amazing characters, but Ravens do seem special! I wonder, if more people saw what fun, affectionate characters birds are they would care more about them and their habitats.

I just stumbled across a folder full of some random designs I did probably more than 20 years ago - I was heavily involved in the games industry back then. Fun times.
There are elements that I developed back then that I still use now, one is very obvious. #graphicdesign #design

I've been running 3 separate online shops for a few years, but on-going, I want to concentrate on my #Teemill shop, because I like what they stand for. Their products are designed to be sent back when worn out so they never need to enter landfill - for one thing.

It feels like another life now because it was so long ago (almost 30 years), but I have been a type designer in my time, and published a few fonts. I had an unexpected email, after never hearing from the publishing company before, telling me they owed me some money.
