The current figure I'm seeing is that as many as 3.3 million Americans protested today. #HandsOff #Resist

Nearly a decade ago, I was forced to leave İstanbul. I was a foreign student caught in the crackdown on academia following the 2016 attempted coup - these weeks, the echoes of 2016 ring loudly as we watch news from both the US and Turkey as academic and political freedoms vanish before pur eyes...

We are considering adding a hashed visual mosaic.

This would allow people to establish an identity on the platform without storing any identifiable information, or registering.

12 character string allows 3 sextillion options.

First of all the data is not in US.

And the data does not include any identifiable information. Not even IP addresses. No cookie. No browser meta data.

There is no login. No users.

Message, timestamp, location, replies.

What data do we store?

Very little.

New version of Anonmap is available at anonmap.net

This with simplified contols. You simply long click on map to move your location, click on your locatin beacon to add a Flagpole (new message) on map, and click on an exiting flagpole to reply to a message.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions!

We’re currently removing the buttons and making the user experience more intuitive.

Also we are removing the distance limit; if you zoom out and there are too many messages, it will switch to heatmap mode automatically.

New version out tomorrow? Maybe?

@minnesotaprotests.bsky.social hey there Minnesota!

We’re developing an anonymous messaging service where someone, say for example, organizing protests could drop anonymous messages on a map, and they disappear on a timer.

Do you think this would be useful?
