Shout out to Ed Boon, programmer extraordinaire! A pinball machine is like a space probe, sent alone into an unknown, potentially hostile environment, and required to do its own error recovery. Ed's work on BK2K made it possible for me to still score a jackpot with 3 targets non-functional!

Feb 1 is the deadline for "excessing" oneself from your current school for reassignment. But it develops that BPS budget cuts will be eliminating 200-300 positions, so I won't be pulling the ripcord into the unknown, frustrating as this job is.

Interesting thoughts on extremism, from an MIT press author. Why was ICE so vicious towards Good and Pretti? Perhaps because both victims were White, but had rejected the extremist ideology, thus becoming “race traitors” who needed to be destroyed and be made an example of.

We have two movies we watch while snowbound: The Thing (1982) and Krampus (2015). But there MUST be others! In particular, Agatha Christie locked-room mysteries must have inspired movies!! Anybody got ideas for movies about people trapped by snow ... to be watched by people trapped by snow?

Looks like the storm is already impacting supply chains. 8:00 a.m. and Market Basket hasn't gotten new stocks of dairy products or fruit yet.
