I'm Andrew Leamon, and I've written comics like the Radiant Black #22 backup, Camera Man, Monolith, and Fourthmeal.

Story time: Four years ago today, I was working on my Radiant Black backup. I lost track of time, and showed up fifteen minutes late for my first date with this woman. Despite that, she still stuck around. I'm a very lucky man. ❤️

So 2026 didnt start the best way for me. Before 2025 ended, we were served a 90 day notice to evict our apt. No reason stated and when asking my mother for details, I never really got a straight answer. I'm finally opening up about my struggles for the last 3 years.

1 - EXT. Wide shot. The entrance to Cebe’s Hand, a wild swampland in the Florida Panhandle. While not as wild as being inside Cebe’s Hand will be. There is still tons of foliage and greenery around. A deer drinks from a nearby bed of water. An alligator lies in wait. JES (Off-Panel): June 6th, 2017. JES (OP): Lisa Leung arrived in Devil’s Garden, Florida with her now deceased fiancé, Jonathan Johnson, to visit his estranged parents, William & Mary, also now deceased. 2 - The Alligator slowly and quietly swims up towards the deer, who unknowingly continues to drink. JES (OP): What was supposed to be a day of reconciliation transformed into a night of horrors. 3 - Suddenly, the deer jerks its head up from drinking. SFX: shf shf JES (OP) A night where only Lisa would survive. 4 - …and darts away before the Alligator can strike. JES (OP): Supposedly, a church fire would claim 33 souls that night. Their bodies have never been found. JES (OP): But that doesn’t explain what happened next. 5 - Lisa, the noise that alerted the deer, walks down a dirt road, naked and bloodsoaked. JES (OP): The following morning, as the sun’s light broke over the horizon… JES (OP): …Lisa was seen stumbling, naked and bloodsoaked, down an old dirt road that leads from Cebe’s Hand, a tangled web of swampland that stretches across the Florida panhandle. 1 - Sheridan Porter, a white man in his late 50s with leather tan skin, drives a middle of the road pick up truck. Not new, but not a beater either. It’s well maintained despite its age. He had a quizzical look on his face as he tries to make sense of this figure he sees ahead. JES (OP): Sheridan Porter, a Good Samaritan, who happened to be driving to his favorite fishing spot, was the first to find her. 2 - Wide shot of the truck pulling over as it nears Lisa. JES (OP): When he noticed the state Lisa was in, he pulled to the side of the road to help. 3 - Sheridan exits his truck as Lisa passes him by. JES (OP): As Sheridan approached, he could hear her talking to herself. LISA (to herself): I don’t know. I don’t know. I took a leap of faith… 4 - Sheridan approaches Lisa who does not notice him at all. JES (OP): If this all wasn’t strange enough, Lisa didn’t even notice him. JES (OP): It was like she was somewhere else. Lost in her own mind. LISA (to herself): This isn’t right. It shouldn’t be possible, but you’re still here. 5 - Lisa collapses into Sherdian’s arms. JES (OP): Sheridan stopped her and asked for her name and she immediately collapsed in his arms. SHERIDAN: Ma’am, are you okay? What happened to you? 6 - She weakly looks up at him. We can see both of them in this panel. JES (OP): She looked at him, finally realizing where she was, and quietly uttered a single sentence. 7 - Extreme close-up on Lisa’s exhausted, bloodsoaked face. JES (OP): M-my name is Lisa Johnson, and… The burned down ruins of The Sacred Heart Church from EAT MY FLESH, DRINK MY BLOOD. Near the back of the ruins, where the altar would be. We see the tree in the image above. Dead and without leaves. Its branches rise above the ruins lifted like hands/arms reaching for the sun. The title logo displayed over it. TITLE CARD: I JUST CAME FROM HELL 1 - INT. Airport. Upper 1/3rd shot of Jes. She and Jes stand on a moving walkway as it leisurely pushes them to their destination. Her hair is up in a messy bun (this will be her new hairdo for most of the book unless specifically stated), she looks tired. It’s been a long 8 months and she’s already feeling the sweltering humidity of Florida. We can’t quite see it yet, but Jes is 33 weeks pregnant with her and Dave’s baby. Gender unknown to either of them. TEXT: June 4th, 2027. JES: What do you think about that intro, Dave? 2 - Cut to Dave. Similar framing to Jes. Dave looks about the same as we last saw him, maybe his beard is a little longer. As usual, Dave plays bad cop. DAVE: I think you’re getting ahead of yourself. Lisa hasn’t even agreed to meet with us yet. JES: Jeeze, tell me what you really think. DAVE: Okay… 3 - Pull back wide so we can see them both in full and how clearly pregnant Jes is. Dave holds onto the handles of both of their suitcases in front of them. DAVE: I really wish you’d let me get you a wheelchair. DAVE: You’re eight months pregnant, Jes. You should be resting. 4 - Jes, holding her stomach, with a faux eyes-closed, soft motherly smile. JES: It’s Baby’s first mystery. 5 - She lifts her head up. Her sharp eyes open and her soft smile shifts to a wry one in classic Jes fashion. JES: Plus, Lisa will find it hard to say no when she realizes that a woman who is eight months pregnant came to make a documentary about her. 6 - Dave tries to help Jes as the moving walkway ends. JES: I got it. I got it. DAVE: Things are about to change, Jes. You have to accept that.
