Go Terps.
Can’t argue with any of this. When you have 15 new players, this is the risk. Buzz said he prioritized long term health of the program over short term wins. That means they better be way better at end of the season and even more so next year. Most fans can endure the pain now but that’s temporary.
Kind of seems like the transfers are bad besides Payne. Coit is undersized against real competition, Watts looks helpless, Saunders is awful, I’m not giving up on rice but the bare minimum he needs to make a layup in transition

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we will look back at this bizarre “tournament” in a few months and realize the results were not totally indicative of team quality. It’s not just MD. Does anyone think Michigan is 40 points better than Gonzaga?

Smo was better. Like a lot better.
Elijah Saunders is afflicted with an absolutely devastating, crippling bout of Evan Smotrycz Disease. It’s some of the worst we’ve ever seen. Has spread to every inch of his body. There is no cure or course of treatment.

This Maryland team going on a 16-4 run against this Zags team is a triumph of the human spirit

There’s one (maybe two) players our roster that would get any minutes for Gonzaga.
they look completely befuddled on offense, it's crazy

Maryland is actually playing mostly fine (especially on defense). Gonzaga is just the literal worst matchup in the sport for them right now.
November 26, 2025 at 2:55 AM
Watching Gillespie kill it for Tennessee is a much easier pill to swallow with Baba committed and a top 5 recruiting class overall. If W****** had stayed, sure he’s probably still a Terp but there’s no chance the future would look as bright. Also, that loser would still be our coach.

Anything other than Maryland getting their shit rocked by Gonzaga tonight would be a huge success, unironically.

I think if they were to pull out the win it would be the biggest upside since they won at top 10 Illinois in January 2024. But Terrence Shannon didn’t play in that one.

He was from a Juco!

Neither were this level of guy coming into school. Not even close.
I’m too young. Where do guys like Vernon Davis and Torrey Smith rank?

Holy shit dude.
BREAKING: Olympic Gold Medalist and Billie track and field standout Quincy Wilson has committed to Maryland 🐢

Solo Washington playing finally maybe?
November 23, 2025 at 11:52 PM
I think I’ve come down that the Semien/Nimmo deal is good for the Mets. Nimmo was getting worse and can’t play defense. Semien is, at least, an elite defensive 2B who can hit 6th or 7th in a good lineup. The biggest downside is probably sentimental, which shouldn’t matter unless you’re a HOFer.

Soccer school
Maryland's goalie just made 2 saves in penalties and then scored the 5th penalty himself for the win. What a dawg

I gotta be honest, this kind of stuff is starting to really annoy me in the CFB Discourse. Not to be too Bluesky-coded but it’s the opposite of the type of left-leaning, progressive sports fandom these folks would otherwise be all for.

I’ve been pretty anti-Mullen at Maryland, but if they end up making a hire next year and he’s still at UNLV, they aren’t going to find someone who wins more.
Head coaches' win percentage since Dan Mullen was hired at Florida for the 2018 season:

Still a lot of work to do to get Maryland back to national contention, but it’s so validating that those of use who have been saying this program just needed a Serious College Basketball Coach and we’d be fine.

Looks like it’s finally public information that Payne’s injury was not nearly as serious as it looked and he should be back by the Vegas games.

Also, apparently Rice and Washington were no longer in boots last night. Could finally have the real team soon.

I love Queen as much as anyone and I’m honestly shocked how quickly he’s become a straight Very Good NBA Player.
A 3x MVP vs a guy playing in his 15th career NBA game lol
November 20, 2025 at 3:33 AM
I genuinely give this team any enormous amount of credit for pulling out this win. Missing their three best (probably?) players and down late.
November 20, 2025 at 2:42 AM
Maryland just (reportedly) was able to give a 16 year old $2 million. That’s big boy money.
However good he is as a player, and obviously I hope he's anywhere close to DQ, him committing is as important as almost anything he does on the court. Getting the money right, getting a huge local recruit to stay home after all of the chaos before and during Buzz's early run is such a big deal.
I didn’t realize this either. FWIW, I don’t think he’ll be the same level Queen was last season. He should be awesome, but Queen was truly special.

I didn't realize he's ranked higher as a prospect then DQ was

Buzz really did it man. Go Terps.

If everything works out, we’ll look back on this night when on one screen we are watching Colin Metcalf start at center, while on the other one of the highest ranked recruits in Maryland history commits, and laugh.
