There are fundamental changes about every 25 years:
1972: Personal computers.
1993: The web and Dotcom Boom.
2023: LLM AI.
Learn to use AI as much as possible. Everything will change. If you miss this wave, the next one will be in 2050. You'll be too old for that one.

time, weight, size, temp, currency, etc are measured objectively. same for all people, good or bad.
however, ethics, politics, religion, culture etc are not objectively measured. thus chauvinism, bias, double standards, and hypocrisy.

What we need is practical solutions for our work and business. They should focus on Applied AI.

in all the talk about the threat of AI for jobs, I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about John Henry, the steel driving man, or Joe Hill, the union organizer.
the anti-AI crowd aren't union people. they're not really concerned about jobs for others. they care only about their own job.

so much talk in AI over the value of proprietary data.
the value of the data of your store? every store in your category has equivalent data. your 100,000 customers is equal to another store's 100,000 customers.
or is this just more of the obsession with the "sanctity of my personal data"?

the problem: how to get from point A to point B.

in the last 30 years, we've seen wave after wave of new ideas replace ideas that were decades old, some hundreds of years old.
yet many think AI won't replace the web. they say, "SEO isn't dead!"
they'll be in for a surprise.

I was part of the Dotcom Boom. That changed everything.
It's happening again. And folks, AI hasn't yet begun. Look around you today so you can remember what today was like. Deep changes are coming.

I wrote last week about how the tech dream is ending for mid-career workers. This is a really good companion piece about how entry level tech jobs are vanishing, too, and the Silicon Valley gold rush is coming to a close: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/10/t...

very hard to make a good illustration of GIGO.
> make a funny New Yorker cartoon of "garbage in garbage out " (GIGO) in computer data. an office worker stands behind his desk. he empties a garbage pail in the back of a desktop computer tower. the garbage flows out from the front screen.

OpenAI valuation is $300B yet I've seen some high school kids who can do better presentations. broken charts, rambling talk, Bernoulli aerodynamic physics, and of course, more useless product names.

RFK Jr is shutting down all mRNA vaccine research.
could the US exchange all of the research, researchers, and laboratories to China for a container load of MAGA hats? or France for 2 tons of cheese? Germany for beer?
such a pity to lose this research.
