@reckless.bsky.social This week’s Vergecast chat about YouTube, professionalising and creators made me think it’s a good time to ask @dwisk.us of Nebula back on Decoder? I’m not affiliated, but they seem to be doing very well growing whilst supporting creators and now making professional output too.

@reckless.bsky.social @davidpierce.xyz Vergecast Holiday Spectacular on surge protectors!
Although they seem to be a particular feature/consequence of the U.S. electrical grid in particular? They are totally not a thing in the U.K. and Europe. +1 for higher voltages and stronger regulation 😀

@reckless.bsky.social Just finished this week’s Vergecast. Hearing all of the OpenAI coverage alongside the discussion about Meta not being trusted has made me wonder if OpenAI are quickly becoming the new Meta from a behavior point of view? Particularly given all the ex-Meta people now at OpenAI.

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

@scalzi.com Can I be so bold as to ask you how you’re getting on with the Nikon Coolpix P1100? I’ve been considering its zoom capability as a reason to buy one and finally not rely exclusively on my smartphone for photography. But the small sensor worries me a bit, am I being too picky?

@davidpierce.xyz Well, this kind of tracking seems terribly out of character for Meta 🙄
Would be a shame if the Verge brought wide attention to it 😉
As Nick Heer says in his post, “The difference between targeted advertising and spyware is there is no difference.”
