Always trying to outdo my counterfactual. Unfortunately I like econ jokes. #trusttheprocess
In high school I used to rapidly refresh pages whenever a doyle article was due because his analysis was unmatched, but he also brought an inclusive approach that contrasted w/ the haughty nature of the mostly british media available in the us at the time. A gem of an analyst & a gem of a human
One of my proudest accomplishments is helping, in some small way, to make MLS a home for folks like @tutul.bsky.social (who is one of the most talented and decent people I know).

One of my biggest frustrations is that I could never figure out how to make it a *permanent* home.
@mattdoyle.bsky.social is one of the best sports writers in our country. Full stop.

There's a special type of writer that makes you feel you're being told a story & investing into a narrative, while simultaneously helping you understand the game better through observation and data.

What's the difference between this guy and a far right dude making things up about people actually doing antifascism on the streets from the comfort of his home. Quickly.
Will Stancil, u have admitted having contact with ICE agents, referred to Native Americans in an offensive manner, denied the U.S. State's foundations in slavery and genocide, harassed militants, ran interference for the Gaza Genocide, & defended settler colonists. Bigot shit. Your response. Quickly

Incredibly emblematic of the worst of the online left trying to get punches in at a lib for tirelessly working on the ground to protect communities from ice & broadcast the horrors across America in one of the most effective non-violent resistances of fascism today (meanwhile grim goes on bannon)
Will Stancil getting thrown out of the ICE signal chat for being annoying (and apparently not following the rules?) was always the way this was destined to end

Reminder that most of the people on here do not in fact know what real poverty is or looks like (or generally understand basic stats, see rest of thread)

This is important in deciding what policy suggestions to take seriously
This is the truth right here. The white upper middle class male has no idea what almost 50% of the country who is basically below the poverty line does know. We are watching. We’re cutting coupons. Buying generic. It’s privilege not to have to see almost half of the country. Now add healthcare cuts.

Beyond absurdity
ok ok i'm all for defending the rule of law, but this elevating the FED chair to folk hero status is a bit much

A lot of people on the left turned on this man as some conservative stooge bc he had the temerity to support evidence-based policy to make his community better. He's literally spending all his free time chasing down ice cars. This is what actual defiance looks like & we should learn a lesson
All day every day, ICE seen at a business were you’ve spent countless hours, ICE seen at a intersection where you have so many memories. Today I chased an ICE SUV down the alley where Volstead’s is. I always take my parents there. They grabbed a man right in front of me and I couldn’t get his name.

Elections have consequences part 3247561

Its not a exercise in virtue signaling its an exercise in power, however limited that power might be. Correctly projecting the counterfactual is in fact an incredibly important factor

It is very interesting to watch the phenomenon will describes happen in real life. The "you dont get math" guys quickly retreat from the claim when its shown they are incorrect. Suddenly its all vibes and slogans again, calls to anecdotes over data... the very rhetoric will was identifying

When you are buying for four, five, or six people, it's impossible to miss.

He claims it's impossible to notice.

Underrated how much the narrowness of the political spectrum on here, while often a relief from a "not being badgered by fascists" perspective, also insulates people from seeing how cringeworthy their insults are when they don't see the dozen maga chuds that use it under every post as if its clever

Very frustrating to see lefty writing that doesn't understand poverty. The economy was in fact very good & delivered the best real gains to low-income workers in generations. Poverty is not primarily a fxn of the economy (except when its really bad). Its a direct result of welfare policy choices
A new Census Bureau report establishes that poverty increased over the course of the Biden administration.

The data is yet another rebuke to the politicians and commentators who insisted economic conditions under Joe Biden were great.

Reminder to the left that revolution or not, material reality continues and maybe we should consider how certain policies impact the working class and try to gain political power to implement them rather than insisting on reading theory to raise consciousness in some fantastical hope of class war
America's lowest wage workers were experiencing the fastest wage growth from 2015-2022.

Now they are experiencing the slowest wage growth and the most abrupt deceleration.

Underrated how much of the country seems to believe or at least pretend that the supreme court is a vaunted institution of legitimacy and objectivity and not another political battleground that had been turned to complete farce by its takeover by conservatives in our political moment.
This is a paragraph Brett Kavanaugh wrote on his little computer and then sent out into the world:

Ironically, you could make the argument that we are witnessing exactly the pro-socialism from these voters that leftists always prophesied.

But they're voting just for the parts of socialist history we like to ignore
American Narodism! just wait, one of these days the rural peasants (bass pro-shop owners, dentists, and car dealers) will rise and establish real socialism™

I'm gonna take the guy who's campaign strategy led to multi-point positive swings relative to the national baseline as the one who "understands politics" but I'm glad we're continuing to purge people who *checks notes* cited an academic article as evidence for election strat. Real winning strategy
Just want it to be known that I led the Engineering team at one of the Civis clients who got David Shor fired for loudly voicing his bad ideas and not actually understanding politics.

Reminder that onions are the base of a vast number of the world's favorite foods' flavor profiles. Certainly many sauces, dips, soups, etc. But also many of your sautees, pastas, meat dishes, rice based dishes, casseroles, etc. so much of it has onions whether visible or not. Champion of flavor
Food opinions where I am right and society is wrong:

-eating apple cores is fine and good (otherwise you waste a third of the apple)

-bananas gross as a flavor or component (fine on their own)

-onions always bad
