Calgary Co-op is "recommending" Tyler Shandro to the board of directors. Co-op doesn't appear to be on BlueSky but this is epically gross. Supporting the Shandro grift isn't a good look.

Aside from Carney being an economic genius, this opportunity isn't even plausible without him being hugely well-respected by leaders world-wide. His close connections are massively overlooked by Canadian media and politicians.
PM Carney is leading talks on a massive new trade deal with 40+ countries and pushing for the European Union to join.

If it happens, it would be the largest trade bloc in the world with little to no tariffs.

Some are calling it an anti-Trump alliance. 🇨🇦

This is just getting silly.
World Curling has made another change in the middle of the Olympics following a meeting with national Olympic committees.

The two umpires who were actively monitoring the games will not be there anymore.

Only by request by the teams. Here’s the latest communication.

Yes
I’ve been thinking about Canada’s intention to become more economically independent from the United States, and to connect more with Europe.

We should do the same thing with our city-building.

Our city-building has always been too influenced by the U.S, especially with car dependency.

Thoughts?
Have you seen this? This recent study of mode share (the % share of transportation trips that are by car, transit, walking, biking etc) relative to city size and income levels in almost 800 cities in 61 countries. Interesting results. HT @davidzipper.bsky.social

Indeed. The odds of being an Olympian are around 1 in 7 million. The fact anyone is at that level is legit insane.
Personally I don’t care what anybody says. Any athlete competing at the Olympics are the elite of our planet in sport and my hat is off to each and everyone of them. Win or lose as long as you give your best in the moment you are very special people. My only wish is that we combine Paralympics too.

We have the most governance uneducated and clueless council of the last decade. It's beyond frustrating.

These people live amongst us. They're our neighbours, hockey coaches, business owners. We need to stop pretending as though they're some sort of boogeyman. They live next door.

Adapt or die. The North American auto industry is massively subsidized by taxpayers. It has created a culture of malaise and bare minimum. If the industry can't compete on its merit, it can die. That's capitalism, baby.
Exclusive: A recent deal by Canada to allow tens of thousands of inexpensive Chinese EVs into the country is a risk to North American auto manufacturing, GM’s CEO says.

We've bankrupted the Kentucky bourbon industry and now cratered Florida's tourism industry. Canadians, we can do better. Let's start turning off the lights along the eastern seaboard.
Almost three hundred thousand jobs and fifty-two billion dollars erased from the Florida economy…
