I thought you might dig that!!

This is it here, "Let's Go Classics" by Takeshi Terauchi and the Bunnys. It's a lot of fun!

His whole catalogue is incredible, actually have a shamisen/surf guitar one of his that I haven't listened to yet, really gotta bust it out soon too.

I snagged this for ¥2420, about £11

On discogs it's going from £57 up to £369

Absolute all-timer of a bargain

Side A is full of the kankyō ongaku school of ambient that Takashi Kokubo just excels at; comparable to Hiroshi Yoshimura, but arguably steeped even deeper in nature

On the B side, purely field recordings of beaches, birds and some city locations for good measure

Actually, this 12" EP was commissioned by Sanyo to accompany a line of air conditioners

It was given away free, in hopes that it would - along with freshly conditioned air - give buyers the feeling of being at the beach

Or if you're more cynical, it would shift more units

Maybe both can be true

Well, for one it's a picture disc (more on that in a bit)

So what, you see picture discs all the time, right?

Slightly more unusual to see ones marked NOT FOR SALE

Oh so maybe it's a press promo thing?

Nope, not quite...

Managed to get a copy of a *very* unusual record, "Get At The Wave" by Takashi Kokubo

Why so unusual? Buckle up and I'll tell ya 🪡🧵

New Junji Ito collection arrived just as I made coffee

A sign from the universe that I deserve a little creepy sofa time

This unusual little Japanese instrument is such a vibe ✨

Designed in 1980s Ikebukuro, originally intended to teach koto scales and soundtrack poetry readings

Tbh even calling this simply 'new age' isn't really accurate

It has some Hisaishi-leaning piano pieces, Parisienne romance, jazz flavours...

I love when people just make what they want to, genre conventions mangled along the way 💖

Here it is:

Powering up with this gorgeous slab of romantically-charged new age 🌺

Someone is gonna make an absolute fortune hawking Hellraiser skins for the Steam Machine

We have such bytes to show you!

Was meant to be going out for a night of riotous jazz and squealing saxophones

Buuuuut I'm still feeling stinking with a nasty bug

So instead tonight is all about herbal tea and soothing incense. Gonna new-age myself better! 💎✨

Tbf I *would* like a Kryten style latex tux

If you try this, something to watch out for is that the Teensy gets HOT

I slapped a little heatsink on mine and my friend printed me a little sleeve for it in heat resistant plastic

Which bumped the total cost up like an extra £3

Lyrics like this, it HAS to rule

We all deserve a FUNKY HUNKY FUNKY SOUL MAN

My wallet screaming for mercy as I start buying tanzaku mini CDs 💿✨

Got these Christmassy delights sent from Osaka, including my favourite festive fusion banger, Christmas Eve, by Tats Yamashita

Also confident that the one with a UFO on it is gonna rock 🛸

Just heard the sad news that legendary actor Tatsuya Nakadai passed away

Aside from Ran and the other incredible Kurosawa films, I implore you to check out The Sword of Doom

I saw it for the first time a few years ago and became instantly *obsessed* with it, and Nakadai's fearsome performance

Running M8 on the Steam Deck is so much fun 💥

Hot little groove, whipped up very quickly
November 11, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Recorded some gentle guitar sounds to lovely noisy old tape ✨

I love this unit, I've had it since I was a little guy - it was the first thing I ever properly recorded music on 💖

This is how Belfast looks in Mobile Suit Gundam: EX Revue (1994)

Honestly, pretty accurate

I could do with a few more giant mechs battering each other a few miles from my house though

On one hand, don't judge a book by its cover/record by its sleeve etc

But on the other hand, surely BAD BOYS COME TONIGHT *has* to rip 🎷💥
November 10, 2025 at 1:27 PM
The absolute best look. Was gonna say I need to go on a Zevon binge but tbh I'm on a PERMO Zevon binge.

Plus he was great in Frasier.
November 10, 2025 at 11:10 AM
Haven't watched Frankenstein yet

But I hope he uses his Steam Deck in the movie and not just behind the scenes
November 10, 2025 at 10:46 AM
It's gross eh!

I can understand people missing the fact it's slop but it's still annoying seeing a billion versions of this shit

Especially as there *is* a fun, actually real, plastic Tsing Tao thing to share - you can buy it by the bag in Quingdao!
