The pudding bowl is an old Cornishware one. The glaze has crackled a bit over the years, but it still takes a long steaming in its stride.

In the CofE the Sunday before Advent is known as Stir-up Sunday because of the collect:

Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Could be friends with my favourite from Salisbury Cathedral.

About 11am this morning, here in Kent (south of England). 😱

I see from a screenshot captured by @sjcaracciacpa.bsky.social yesterday evening that the full text search covers “books, stories and newspapers”. That suggests it’s not across record sets, so for example, you couldn’t search for witness names on marriage register entries.

Hello, #AncestryHour. I’ve not had much time for #FamilyHistory research, what with studying and also celebrating my son’s 18th birthday. But I’m working on my elusive #DNA link to Mormons in Utah. I’ve found a new family group who emigrated, but they went to Australia, not the USA. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Here he is buying his first pint of beer in our local pub. It’s been a wonderful weekend with family, and friends who are godparents. I’ve been quite emotional at times, but I’m pleased to have given a short speech last night. It makes a change from speeches being a man thing! 😂

The vicar of St Neot's in Huntingdonshire was busy on 19 May 1803 - he baptised nine children. I'd love to know if anyone has found more than this! #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

With a day off work I'm working on my Huntingdonshire ancestors, now that parish registers are on Ancestry. But look at these pages - they're all oriented wrong! I'm having to turn each one round, in the opposite direction for alternate pages.

Special delivery! 18 years ago today I had an unplanned C-section and look who arrived. Tonight he buys his own beer, and tomorrow we celebrate with family and godparents. Feeling thankful for the miracle of IVF treatment.

Wishing my aunt Margaret a very happy 87th birthday today. My cousin asked at the weekend if anyone could send a card, and look what happened.

Last year I wrote a collection of pen portraits of those in my family tree who lost their lives in wartime. Sharing here, along with photos taken in Whitehall yesterday.

A dull, damp and grey start to the week. Commuting is hard work this time of year.

Goodness - I remember going there as a child! This photo was taken at Hilton maze in summer 1974 - I’m the cheeky one on the right. My sister is the grumpy-looking baby.

Not so Wookiee today after a visit to the dog groomer. #Luca #DogsOfBluesky

And right now, he’s lurking under a chair, wagging his tail, but vehemently not coming out to be fussed.

And in the meantime, I can offer you a completely stupid chilled-out dog picture. Our hound is a softie of the first order! 😂

If anyone ever wanted to know why owning a dog is so special, this picture sums it up. #Luca
He’s due for a haircut, but he’s so utterly chilled! 😂

I thought there was one missing: this one arrived in the post today.

Looks like I have another afternoon hiding upstairs in my study! 😂 #Rugby

As I finish one course with @pharostutors.bsky.social I’m straight into the next - hello to the 17th Century! More (second hand) books for my rapidly growing collection.

#31DaysOfGraves day 30 - colour. This slightly out-of-focus picture is the grave of my parents-in-law. Back in the spring I transplanted some autumn-flowering cyclamens from my garden, and here’s one in flower. The plants originally came from their garden, so it seemed an appropriate addition.

Because every science centre should have a #DNA themed #DoubleHelix climbing frame. Many years ago at Herstmonceux Observatory in Sussex.

#31DaysOfGraves day 29 - #Occupations. This is the grave of my 3xGGF Joseph Entwistle, his 3rd wife Sarah Swinden and 2nd wife Mary Ward. Joseph is described as “joiner of this town” and “maker of 6,600 coffins”. Edgerton Cemetery, #Huddersfield.
