Dad, Entrepreneur, astronomer, dog-lover who cares about this planet, and our future as a species. You should as well...
Fantastic work by Ariel Graykowski and our @setiinstitute.bsky.social citizen scientists.
Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) is breaking apart — and some of you caught it live. After passing 0.3 AU from the Sun, it erupted, and three days later a third appeared.

K1 is now officially in pieces.

Gave two talks at the MacMillan Space Centre in Vancouver on Friday evening to a wonderfully diverse and curious crowd. We explored the @setiinstitute.bsky.social , LaserSETI, and of course @skymapper.bsky.social Loved the questions, the energy, and the conversation.

New observations of comet 3I/ATLAS show it’s exactly where predictions said it would be. No mystery, no breakup.

Scientists shouldn’t post rough guesses as headlines — and journalists should stop amplifying them. Let’s focus on the real science, not manufactured drama.

Congratulations to Jill Tarter — astronomer, innovator, and founder of the @setiinstitute.bsky.social — for receiving the California Academy of Sciences Fellows Medal!
Her dedication to science has inspired generations, including myself. Always a joy to talk with her about @skymapper.bsky.social

It’s the first time I’ve ever watched Jimmy Kimmel, but today feels special for our country. Our freedoms and the principles that make this a truly free nation—free speech , respect for science, and a fair system of justice—are what unite us as Americans. Let’s stand together to protect them.

🚨 Possible brightening in comet 3I/ATLAS!
Observers report an uptick since Sept 17 (UTC). Our @Unistellar data shows 2 points brighter than predicted—promising but sparse.
As 3I nears the Sun it’s getting tougher to spot, so more observations in the next few nights are key! #exocomet

Friday night bliss: a fog-free, dark sky, my @Unistellar ODYSSEY at my side, great music in my ears and a good book in hand. Nights like this remind me why I fell in love with the stars… here’s to many more. #astronomy

Several citizen astronomers of the @unistellar.bsky.social network watched the eclipse beginning of this week. Here some images by Aad V. who lives in Netherlands. Don't miss the next one on March 2-4, 2026! #LunarEclipse #astronomy

Congratulations to Natalia Oliveros-Gómez and Laura Ramírez-Galeano for leading the RECA education project, bringing astronomy to students across Colombia—recognized today at #EPSCDPS25

Diversity doesn’t sustain itself—it endures only if we keep fighting for it. Grateful to the members of #EPSCDPS2025 for leading the way to keep science open and inclusive for all.

Almost done! The three LaserSETI stations are set and connected. Now we need to fix connection issues and the instruments will be ready to search for laser pulses from ET… here in Puerto Rico. Thank you Isla Mayaguez and Universidad de Puerto Rico !

Setting up our LaserSETI stations with @setiinstitute.bsky.social and @profabelmendez.bsky.social team at Isla Mayagüez. It’s sunny, it’s hot but I am glad we are here. #science

Watched Contact today with the @setiinstitute.bsky.social REU students. I’d honestly forgotten how much this movie shaped my path, it hit me all over again. Carl Sagan was such a brilliant mind and a kind soul. Big thanks to Exequiel from @skymapper.bsky.social for making it happen.

Amazing work and reactivity from our @setiinstitute.bsky.social @unistellarusa.bsky.social citizen network of astronomers. We detected the interstellar comet this weekend with our mighty small telescopes. Some are obvious, others are very close to a bright star, But 3I/Atlas is here. #citizenscience

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon.

No matter how good you are, the pigeon will just knock over all the pieces, crap on the board, and strut around proudly as if it won.

Amazing first light from @vrubinobs.bsky.social ! The telescope’s sensitivity and image quality are stunning—~1100 asteroids detected in just a few nights. Imagine what 3 years of scanning the sky will reveal: millions of new worlds, right in our backyard.

Thank you to all the American people who marched today to protect our human rights, decency and compassion , and rational thinking. This day will be the one we showed the true face of this amazing country and we end this media-focused incompetence #noking

Humpback whales are making bubble rings during friendly encounters with humans—those are creative, playful, & unexplained.
How did no one connect this to Arrival’s alien ring language?
Maybe the signs of intelligence we seek in the stars are already circling us.

There is a great exhibit at the @flysfo.bsky.social airport T1 on Afrofuturism featuring people I met and I admire like @nnedi.bsky.social, Ingrid LaFleur and more people I didn’t know. Take 15 min to check it out!

Thank you Brian Jackson and Rachel Huchmala from @boisestate.bsky.social for spearheading an impactful outreach and education program in Idaho using @unistellar.bsky.social telescopes and our @setiinstitute.bsky.social citizen science program to inspire the young generation. #astronomy #outreach

Just after the 9th test flight launched, I told my contact in Anguilla to look up. Tourists at Malliouhana hotel and locals were mesmerized as Starship soared overhead. A stunning moment for everyone under that sky. #lookup

A perfect way to wrap up the weekend: backyard chill with family, music, and the stars. Despite the city lights of San Francisco, my @unistellar.bsky.social scope let me catch a glimpse of the Antennae Galaxies – just 45 million light-years away and still merging! #astronomy
