The NASA Lucy mission passing by Earth last night captured with a unistellar telescope by citizen astronomer Elius Bonilla. “Lucy was screaming” he wrote.
Fantastic work by Ariel Graykowski and our @setiinstitute.bsky.social citizen scientists.
Comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) is breaking apart — and some of you caught it live. After passing 0.3 AU from the Sun, it erupted, and three days later a third appeared.

K1 is now officially in pieces.

Our CEO @allplanets.bsky.social visited the HR MacMillan Space Centre to talk exoplanets and how SkyMapper’s decentralized network will accelerate discovery.

Huge thanks to the @setiinstitute.bsky.social team for hosting us and giving us space to share the future of sky observation. 🌌

How many more Cloudflare, AWS, or GCP outages do we need before we admit our internet is built on a few fragile chokepoints? These failures aren’t accidents — they’re the cost of centralization. Time to look seriously at decentralized infra as a real path to resilience. #web3

Gave two talks at the MacMillan Space Centre in Vancouver on Friday evening to a wonderfully diverse and curious crowd. We explored the @setiinstitute.bsky.social , LaserSETI, and of course @skymapper.bsky.social Loved the questions, the energy, and the conversation.

New observations of comet 3I/ATLAS show it’s exactly where predictions said it would be. No mystery, no breakup.

Scientists shouldn’t post rough guesses as headlines — and journalists should stop amplifying them. Let’s focus on the real science, not manufactured drama.

At USF, our CEO @allplanets.bsky.social showed how anyone can map the sky through @unistellar.bsky.social and SkyMapper with decentralization and real rewards pushing discovery forward.

Thanks to our partners The Canary Global Foundation and Light Bridges for helping make it real.

The cracks are showing. Even Republicans are turning against Trump’s absurd trade wars. The Senate just voted to kill his tariffs on Canada — and did the same for Brazil yesterday. Maybe this is the start of a rebellion against blind, illogical leadership.

Fun SETILive and interesting discussion with @asrivkin.bsky.social on 2024YR4 and its potential impact on the moon in 2032. We are going to need a Planetary Defense program for the Moon if we establish permanent bases there...
“What if a piece of Earth was floating out there as an asteroid?”

On #SETILive, @allplanets.bsky.social and @asrivkin.bsky.social explored asteroid 2024 YR4 and its 4% chance of hitting the Moon in 2032.

A risk for satellites, but a rare gift for science.

It’s the first time I’ve ever watched Jimmy Kimmel, but today feels special for our country. Our freedoms and the principles that make this a truly free nation—free speech , respect for science, and a fair system of justice—are what unite us as Americans. Let’s stand together to protect them.

🚨 Possible brightening in comet 3I/ATLAS!
Observers report an uptick since Sept 17 (UTC). Our @Unistellar data shows 2 points brighter than predicted—promising but sparse.
As 3I nears the Sun it’s getting tougher to spot, so more observations in the next few nights are key! #exocomet

Beyond politics, it’s time for all of us to confront the radicalization of some young men, likely accelerated by COVID isolation and social media, an alarming sign of a society that has lost its values, neglected to properly guide its youth, and failed to simply love them. #education #family

There’s a new comet in the sky, although, as of Friday morning, it was not yet officially confirmed. SWAN25B is best positioned for observers in the Southern Hemisphere. Because it’s so close to the sun, it will be tricky to spot. #comet #astronomy earthsky.org/space/new-co...
