This piece (... predictably) gets 99% of the way and then doesn't stick the landing. As the piece itself says, you can't build a concentration camp where that duty of care will be honored. Why go through the trouble of writing this and not say close the camps?

Measles in an ICE facility is a public health failure
A marginalized population, a highly contagious disease, no systemic vaccination safeguards — no wonder there’s measles in an ICE detention facility.

Okay but you have overlooked Justice Jackson's most jarring ethical violation, a galling breach of propriety shared by other totally fair and reasonable Republican targets such as Lisa Cook, Gwynne Wilcox, Carla Hayden, and Ilhan Omar:

She is a Black woman.
Amid the flagrant ethics violations among SCOTUS justices, a U.S. senator is demanding Justice Jackson be investigated for attending the Grammies. In a year in which she was nominated for one.

To be fair, Blackburn is really dumb. And hyper partisan. And rarely acts in good faith.

This is just part of patrol. ICE threatens you, points guns at you, brutalizes or kills someone in front of you. Every day it's somebody new in our circle. We gather around them while they work through the stress and fear and then, to the person, they go back out.

My friends are so insanely brave.

Remember, when someone wants a job years from now and you're on the hiring committee, and you see that DHS nonsense on their resume, you file that shit in the proper receptacle.
Metry and her husband of 4 years go to DHS to get their I-130 in motion. "Good news" a DHS employee told them, the form to start her naturalization was approved.

DHS employee asks the husband to follow him through a secure door. When it locks behind him, ICE detains his wife to deport her.
EXCLUSIVE: Terez Metry was 13 when her family fled to Tennessee from Egypt in 2011. Then, they left her behind. She only recently discovered she had an order of removal from 2011. But she was following the legal path to citizenship. On Monday, at a routine DHS meeting, Metry was detained.

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past.

It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.
