A few weeks ago I got to hang out with @lawrencesystems.com in person for a couple of days. Many great chats inspired a YouTube video where we talked more about the future of ZFS and NVMe: youtu.be/BjOkWTeZJDk?...

RAID is not a backup, it protects availability and uptime, not your data.

Pair RAID with a full disaster recovery plan to ensure both the availability and resiliency of your data.
Good backups start with one simple question:

What are you protecting your data from?

Sorry, I accidentally some words here. I found an integer overflow in a terminal emulator written in Rust.
I've found four bugs in three terminal emulators this weekend, lol.

I love target rich environments.

(none of the bugs are security-relvant, don't worry)

One of them, though, is an integer overflow in a terminal emulator written, which, lol, lmao, rofl.

ZFS just got smarter at spreading writes across your disks. The new Unified Allocation Throttling (PR17020) fixes major flaws in how space was balanced across vdevs—meaning less fragmentation, better performance, and more efficient use of your storage.
Big news if you’re running ZFS at scale!
