Nail polish remover. That's what sugar ants smell like when you squash them. I got a faint whiff once in my bedroom and discovered they had come in the window colonized the curtain rod. An icky discovery.

It's interesting to see how a suddenly popular sub/micro/mini-genre balloons and starts poking into everything else. I think the industry is still recovering from all the gatekeepers narrowing down our options. For awhile it was all vampires, then shifters, now superheroes. It'll swing around again.

Just not put it in a real place. If you changed a few names and threw a 2nd moon in the sky it would all be just fine. Because we can all accept different thing happening "elsewhere". But this rags to riches family saga in late 1800s England has some uncomfortable holes in it.

I only have family on my private page on Facebook. My 94 year old aunt still comments on my pictures of flowers. I have an old friend in Australia and my cousins in Europe who keep in touch that way. For that reason, I'll stay. I have an author page that doesn't do much. Maybe I'll close that down.

I love the reviews that start "I don't usually read this genre" and then go on to hate the book. Um...why?

Is that bluestone? My ancestors worked in the quarries up there.
