Not the main event, of course, but I’m genuinely curious how car insurers are dealing with claims of broken windows, fender benders, etc., caused by ICE.

Wrote a piece for @slate.com explaining that states have a long history of prosecuting federal officers when they allegedly use excessive force. Federal officers are only immune from such prosecutions when they act reasonably in carrying out lawful duties.

Arrests. Now.

Nothing makes me more acutely aware of how far we’ve backslid as a country than doing legislative history of federal bills passed in the 1950s. While legislators had some terrible blind spots, their ability to talk in paragraphs about science, economics, the greater good, etc., is mind-blowing.

I like that in my neck of the woods the only thing on the ballot was Proposition 50. Made returning it that much easier — no hemming-and-hawing about how to make a decision on community college district reps or whatever. That stuff matters, but we got bigger fish to fry. One bubble, boom, done.

I'm not sure you can get more marie antoinette than taking away food stamps before thanksgiving while you build a gold and marble dance hall so the other crooks can bring bribe you over a badly-cooked (argentinian) steak
