FYI: As a person who does social change narrative work, I always recommend not replicating the label "techno-optimism" and instead calling it "techno-salvationism" since that helps audiences see the way this ideology is increasingly being used to bypass material reality.

What if most want the same thing, but the non-party folks have so little engagement that they don't have an opinion on how to get it? A party is in part a collection of theories on how to improve people's lives. People in the middle know what they want, but not how to get it.

I don't know. It sounds (from Wikipedia) like he has been getting more unhinged, especialy since about 2022. He is 79 (and I say that as someone who is 71. I see many contemporaries now who are stuggling with dementia).
