If the markets were properly analyzing the situation, they’d realize that we will no longer have reliable economic stats - unemployment, inflation, trade #s are all going to be baked. Our economy has remained strong because of that data. Census data informs all of the funding and local spend…

We dropped our paywall for this new piece.

Court Watch picked one of the largest ‘news deserts’ in the South and examined all the new court dockets that went unreported to tell a larger story about the need for local journalism

The Rabbit Hole: Dockets Die in Darkness
Among the 17 counties in Georgia that don’t have a single local news source, 12 of the counties are in the Middle District of Georgia’s jurisdiction. This week, we sought to highlight the dockets dyin...

"Just like the killing of Renée Good, Saturday morning’s shooting once again raises the question of why it is so damned difficult to hold federal officers—and the federal government itself—accountable if and when they violate our rights."

Me on the federal accountability gap—and how to close it:
204. Accountability After Minneapolis
A short post explaining (1) why it's so hard to hold federal officers and/or the federal government liable for violating our rights; and (2) how a one-sentence statute could (and *SHOULD*) fix it.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.

I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

I'm looking for witnesses/victims of DHS retaliating against people who were recording their agents (ICE, Border Patrol, FPS, etc.) in Southern California.

This is for LA Press Club v. Noem case, but victim does NOT need to be press/journalist. Everyone has right to record. We're fighting for all.

The reality is that 2024 was a fundamental test of the moral character of the nation and we failed spectacularly. We’re living with the consequences now. Maybe we improve. I hope so.

This comes just after the president publicly demanded that ICE should start showing the public how terrible the people are who they're grabbing and arresting.

In this case, his name is Liam. He's five years old.

Trafficking the boy after using him as bait, pinning someone in the snow to spray into their mask, shooting Marimar Martinez, murdering Renee Good—Bovino and Miller are asserting the right to harm anyone they want. The only acceptable response is to make sure they can no longer harm anyone at all.

We are watching one of the wildest things a nation-state has ever done: A superpower is committing suicide because the GOP Congress is too cowardly to stand up to the Mad King.

This is one of the wildest moments in all of geopolitics ever.

Just as everyone predicted with the exception of Donald Trump, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Kevin Hassett. The last 3 knew they’ve been lying, not sure with Orange Caligula because he’s a moron and a liar so in his case it could be either one or both.

Don't doubt that Jay Powell is ready to lob back whatever grenades are thrown his way.

I've never seen a central bank release an evening video so directly taking on a head of state. In this case, the medium is the message: Powell is taking his case to the people.

One way to quantify the GOP's attack on free and fair elections:

My law firm is litigating 78 voting and election cases in 39 states. This is, by far, the largest caseload we have carried in a non-election year and close to our peak in 2024. The question is how many more can a small firm handle.
