Jane Goodall over here making me cry on a Sunday morning. 🥺
Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

Just reading about UC professors' fight against loyalty oaths in 1949 for, oh, no reason at all.

Have something bigoted to say? Just use polite words, each of which is inoffensive on its own! People will call you "civil" because they can't see the forest through the trees.
He argued with civility. It's a start.
What disagreements, exactly, was he bridging via his work and words?

This is why the @lawyers4goodgov.bsky.social Pro Bono Litigation Corps is such a critical innovation. It empowers solos and small firms, less vulnerable than most to institutionalized fecklessness, to take on cases challenging the administration.

"get them out!!" &

"whose streets,

our streets!!!"

people with US flags and MAGA posters in the crowd too

The last five months have been scary and isolating. Today's march in SF helped break that mold. It felt so good to be surrounded by people as outraged as I am about what the administration is doing.

My favorite detail of this story is that the stalker was Field's former colleague... from when they both served on the Supreme Court of California!
Neagle, for those not familiar, is an absolutely wild case where Supreme Court Justice Stephen Field developed basically an obsessed stalker while riding circuit out in California

The president appointed Neagle to bodyguard him, and Neagle ultimately shot the stalker dead defending Field

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs

Worth noting that something like one in five people has dyslexia—a *huge* proportion of the population. Book snobs, grammar scolds, and the typo police would do well to consider this before casting aspersions.
it’s also not easy for some people! my mom and I are Book People but my dad is a slow reader and it’s hard for him, it’s not an easy escape for everyone the way it is for many of us

this is why I also don’t sneer at people who read mostly YA - it’s good they’re getting some enjoyment out of books
Which is not a terrible thing in and of itself. Reading is a form of entertainment, and there will always be people who aren't looking for a serious challenge when they pick up something fun.

I have a joke about Endymion, but it will put you to sleep.
I have a joke about Ariadne, but I get lost telling it a lot
I have a joke about Icarus. It's probably not a good idea to tell it, but what's the worst that could happen?

L4GG's organizing call brought such light into my day. ~800 attorneys made time to attend, and that alone gives me hope that our profession will meet this precarious moment in our country's history.
We’re Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG)—a nationwide network of attorneys fighting for democracy, civil + human rights, and equal justice. Since 2016, we’ve mobilized $100M+ in pro bono legal work to challenge injustice and help communities. Follow us to join the fight!

This is why fascism is for losers. It is the last gasp of a group of ideologues who realize that they've already lost the future and have nothing to lose by burning it all down. Everything made more sense when I realized that a few years ago. Fascists are residual culture that refuse to go away.

The federal government is trying to destabilize and fragment the legal profession. Now is the time to publicly push back. Please consider adding your name to the list.

Allez vous faire voir, espèce de collabo
A shutdown would give Donald Trump the keys to the city, state, and country.

Musk has said he wants a shutdown, and reporting has shown he is already making plans to use the shutdown to expedite his destruction of key government programs and services.
