Scot mostly found in the West Midlands. Social democracy. Probably the only person to hold a season ticket for both Aberdeen and West Brom.

I don't agree with that in the workplace.
Just said "all stations go" rather than "all systems go" in a work call. Didn't feel like I could correct myself, really. Bit embarrassing, but I'll live it down. It's not like the time I said "two-thonged approach" rather than "two-pronged approach" to my fucking GP.

I might just be too cynical now, but I have increasingly grown to believe that Imagine is a fundamentally crap song.
Ok so the Your Party Conference has ended with - and I promise you I am not making this up -

- With a man on stage singing Imagine.

You know who would be the ideal unity candidate for leadership of the beleaguered Your Party? A calming influence in choppy waters. A cool head on the British left.

Dr Eóin Clarke.

To commemorate St Andrew's Day, you should all watch the greatest Scottish film of the twenty-first century to date, especially if you have not done so already.

It's still available on iPlayer:

Sophie is beginning to remember a formative holiday her divorced dad Calum took her on as a child. What her 11-year-old self experienced is now conjuring up things that perhaps went unseen.

Train conductor is the spitting image of Kevin Muscat. Similar manner too. Absolutely nobody, not even the insolent teenagers, giving him any cheek on the ticket check. Masterful performance.

Aberdeen’s current performances and results have made me more convinced of two things:

1. Jimmy Thelin is very unlikely to lose his job in the next few months, as recently looked a distinct possibility.

2. Jimmy Thelin is very unlikely to be Aberdeen manager come the start of next season.

Reflecting on #WBA, think Mason deserves credit for restoring Molumby. Understand why some were opposed, but a unique presence among midfield options - ball-carrier, box-to-box, progresses possession with urgency. Imperious second half. Not his fault there is nobody else in squad with that skillset.
November 30, 2025 at 10:15 AM
Continuing this: #WBA won with 65% possession today. Maybe some signs, although usually when trailing in games, that they *can* create chances, score goals and get results when having most of the ball.

If it can be built upon, it could really help to make them a better team, especially at home.
A ‘fun’ fact: Today, #WBA won a game where they had the majority of possession for the first time this season (62%). Their joint next highest for wins is 49% against Wrexham and PNE.

I suspect that is at least partly reflective of league dynamics, though, and not solely about Albion or Ryan Mason.
Leaving Ipswich (46%) as something of an outlier, 49% v PNE (2-1 win), 60% v Watford (2-1 defeat) and 62% v Sheff Wed (0-0). A theme has emerged with this #WBA team - let them have the ball in ‘safe’ positions and challenge them to find solutions; all evidence sadly suggests they won’t be able to.

Now that we all know the story has a happy ending, we can laugh at Swansea scoring after ten seconds or whatever it was. Just objectively very funny.
November 29, 2025 at 6:06 PM
That was basically a reverse Mason. Terrible first half, brilliant second half. Half-time subs all made valuable contributions. Brave, front-foot approach. Heggebo relentless, Molumby imperious. Players are with the manager. Sheer outpouring of joy at the third goal. Hopefully a turning point. #WBA

Molumby deserves that. Imperious in the second half. #WBA

Thing is, I don’t think the players have stopped playing for Mason here. The application is there. But there is an obvious lack of quality - and more than a few significant tactical issues too. #WBA

Watching that episode of Curb where Larry pretends to be Orthodox Jewish to get Richard bumped up the transplant list, fakes speaking Yiddish, and then eats edible underwear while stuck on a ski lift.

Simply the best half an hour of TV ever devised.

Just deeply unpleasant and unseemly, really.
November 28, 2025 at 10:15 PM
I am not quite sure how "Your Party" has managed to conjure up three other options for a name that mean that sticking with “Your Party" would somehow be the best choice, but they have managed it - so fair play, I suppose.

Please excuse this bit of Liberal Democrat posting, but by UK supermarket standards, the M&S in-store bakery really is consistently excellent and probably doesn’t get quite enough praise for that.

One of my most enduring gripes. Politicians are told not to patronise voters. The most patronising approach is to nod along when they believe stuff that's not true, or encourage them
this is one of the reasons not to do policy by poll or focus group

If you are going to be a team that seeks to:

a) Manage games out;
b) When leading, create chances on transition;

It helps to be a team that actually looks comfortable:

a) Managing games out;
b) Creating good quality chances on transition.
