It’s the plankton that make the bioluminescence (they feed on the algae).

I haven’t done a night dive for a while.

Haha yeah. We were back in Gulf Harbour Marina, refuelled and water tank refilled by midday today - before the rain arrived.

The bird life on Kawau Is. is great.

Some of the locals have trail cam videos of kiwis etc. wandering across their properties

Yeah, truly international sports pretty much run year round somewhere. MLB, NHL are effectively regional competitions.

I do enjoy it and have put a bit of thought into setting things up so I can enjoy where I live.

Here’s the view right now

We saw some of the pink algae that indicates a possibility of bioluminescence too.

And then saw bioluminescence in Bon Accord Harbour (at 3am …). I splashed around with the net and tried to get pics & video but they don’t do it justice

They are fairly common around the Hauraki Gulf in summer. We usually see them once the water warms up.

(I’ve seen quite a few while Spearfishing)

The bronzie came past a few times …

And we were lucky to get a visit by the local taxman … a bronze whaler shark decided he wanted a late afternoon snack (I was cleaning fish).

Actually, Chris (my mate) represented NZ at Underwater Hockey too.

If any of you have watched 'South Seas Spearo' on TVNZ you will see a couple of familiar faces (Dwayne and Kieran) in the NZ team.

The comp starts tomorrow at Arquipélago Tamboretes off the coast of São Francisco do Sul.

It's a small not very diveable area and 80 ish boats will be jostling for position and there will be lots of divers in murky water.

Good luck to the kiwi team - stay safe!

same here

Yeah, the "plan" is basically:
1. don't go near there (shelter in place)
2. use SH20 to go around
3. use mapping apps with live traffic integration ...
4. Oh, we will also put info on our electronic signs

Probably because we don't have a culture that eats turkey. It would be available if effort was put into developing the market (but that requires more cost/effort than any single supplier can fund)

That’s far from the original state of nature of New Zealand.

We didn’t have grass covered farmland.
