And I will keep thinking about it." This is a letter one year on, from one Hokkaido fan, who wrote to me after [Fighting General] Daimos had finished airing, to curse me for killing Richter. Now let's take a look at the letter they sent me the previous year, as well: "I have a complaint. Are you a sadist? Why are you killing the characters you created? You demon! Fiend! Murderer! Damned sadist! Argh, how dare you?! How freaking dare you kill Richter?! Oh, I curse you, I curse you!" Few people would read these two letters and think they were written by the same person. However, it's this fact, that someone who saw Daimos, and had such a problem with Richter's death specifically, has continued to think about it for a year and has grown so much; I am deeply moved by this fact. I created Daimos precisely as something that challenges the viewer to debate in this way. Certainly, there must be some aspects that cannot be understood just through casual engagement with my work. However, as long as people continue to explore the topics implied within the work, they will learn of the persecution of Jews by the Nazis, and discover Minamata disease, and begin to broaden their perspective on the world. these fuckin' spacesuits in ASH (flying lotus, 2025), man. this movie does the business on a tightass budget (can't find exact figures but i bet the marketing budget for this thing cost ten times its production cost and the movie spent its funds more wisely). real "ten rocks and a warehouse" shit.
it's a spacesuit, but frankly it looks more like a cross between a skeleton wrapped inside a squid latched onto its wearer. another shot of the spacesuit, showing off its breathing apparatus, which looks like nothing so much as a backlit set of tiny skeletal ribs floating in cosmic nebula juice. another look at the spacesuit, in a rather dark silhouette, showing off the glowing, bulbous shoulder and lower arm pads.

Miyamoto: We have character-themed exhibits along the walls on the second floor, and we also feature characters in the welcome zone at the entrance to the museum on the first floor. (Initially, this museum) was primarily designed around showcasing past products and hardware. But to help people understand Nintendo as a whole, we decided showing them the IPs was the best approach, so we created this space. Now, we're operating it as a gateway to introduce these IPs and bring people back to Nintendo games, much like IPs, theme parks, and movies do. Looking ahead, while games are obviously part of the larger Nintendo IP brand, we envision creating even more compelling things. We hope to think of it as a space where all sorts of things can be incorporated. Ultimately, what people remember are the IPs. Games become obsolete when new versions come out. But that's incredibly sad. We started video production partly because of that sadness--seeing our creations become playable only on Virtual Console. Even making them playable in a museum has its limits, but video content can endure forever. I envision more and more of these things accumulating, making Nintendo itself a huge brand. I always say our theme is "creating reasons for people to choose Nintendo."
