There are 2 lines of arguments for the "do nothing" policies that I find exhausting: 1) Some inept form of cost/benefit analysis, often reduced to just cost analysis 2) A perverted variation of the serenity prayer, in which nobody should change anything, because nothing is in our control.

The fundamental problem in common European defence is that Russia simply isn't an existential threat to voters west of river Oder.

Yes, Russia grabbing its old imperial sphere of influence the Kremlin so desires would probably be bad for the rest of Europe in many ways.

The Wall Street view of the world is so ludicrously nihilistic that it could only be captured in the caricatural tones of The Wolf of Wall Street. Even Rodion Raskolnikov looks like a humanist, by comparison.
