The Red Line does go close enough for a direct east wing infill station entrance

It’s a pretty map by OP, but even if you say DC should only build around transit, there are plenty of high frequency bus lines that easily support dense development.

Looking at you 16th St, 14th St, Georgia Ave, and (surprisingly) Alabama Ave 👀

I’m struggling to see why they call this line BRT. Unless the map imagery I’m looking at is old, this bus route seems to run in mixed traffic in a one-lane-in-each-direction road for almost all its route and only has a mile of bus lanes which alternate sides.

They have this actually. But it’s real finicky. I’ve only received it my first year riding Amtrak. Others have gotten it every year. 🤷‍♂️

We don’t need to imagine, we have Philadelphia!

No one talks enough about the high cost of not enough parking. Had to park a block away and walk through the brutal 73 degree heat.

Ah that’s because 96% of trips are faster with ATO, not that trips are 96% faster

The City of Philadelphia should not be locking in single track service for eternity.

Rails with trails, not rail to trail, people.

Supposedly yesterday’s SEPTA delay came from Amtrak power issues. I’m surprised Amtrak even supplies power on this SEPTA-only line tho. And I saw amtrak trains running during this time too. Maybe I arrived after the issue got fixed or it didn’t affect the NEC 🤷‍♂️ wwww.septa.org/news/regiona...

A two-car standing room only Media-Wawa train leaves the straphangers stranded on the platform

Another day, another problem. No trains have come southbound for at least 20 min.

If a two car train comes through, people will very likely be left behind.

Thinking about how easy it was to move around DC this weekend and just wishing Philly was more like this!

I’ve never seen the East Hall at Union Station open before

Looks like the tortuously over-budget Bethesda Purple line station connection has moved a step forward!

Oh come on. VRE beats MARC by a mile and SunRail+RoadRunner beat VRE by another mile.

Another day another car holding up the 42

The deep Woodley Park Metro station has a devastatingly slow elevator. Oftentimes, you don’t know whether it’s best to wait, walk over a block and go down the escalator, or find a different way to get where you’re going.

But now you don’t need to guess. @wmata.com just installed an indicator!

I wonder if Apple Maps will ever bring its red zone for ULZ in London to the congestion pricing zone in New York

We were the last civilians in the Lincoln Memorial before it was shut down for the Army Parade.

Looking at a map of Kiryas Joel, you can see the neighborhoods, while sprawly in nature, do have a pretty good number of multi family as well as bike/ped connections between culdesacs, which must be important for getting to shul without a car on Shabbat.

There’s also a lot more housing just offscreen to the down and right.

Here’s Boston’s (really Somerville’s) Assembly station, probably their best TOD effort around the MBTA.

Transit Oriented Development - or lack thereof - at two Metro termini. Can you identify the stations?
