Quelle surprise ! 🙄🤦‍♀️
Now we learn the billionaire owner of a bridge that will compete w/the new Canada-MI bridge met with Lutnick right before Trump issued his threat to shut down the new bridge. The Trump admin is a lawless mafia gangster extortion racket existing to enrich oligarchs at our expense.

I left Alberta a long time ago, but I was born and raised there. I completely agree with the Chief, too!
As an Albertan I fully agree with the Chief.

My heart feels for the the city and state leaders, but begging Trump to pull out is not enough. You have a police department, you have a state patrol, you have a National Guard - activate them and arrest ICE members terrorizing your community. Watching and begging just ends with more deaths.
At 11:30 a.m., City leaders will provide the information we have available on this morning's shooting involving federal agents near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. Watch a livestream of the press conference at https://www.youtube.com/live/3_sK9O5b-Ec.

And remind me who actually pays tariffs again 🤔🫠
It’s posts like this that make Canada and other countries want to do deals with China and leave the United States all alone. This is the language of an abusive ex.

This plan couldn’t be more morally bankrupt unless they were building a holiday resort on the site of a WWII concentration camp. So glad Canada had refused the $1B “Board of Peace” invite even before the temper-tantrumy disinvite came via social media.

He understands that by any measurement to date, it’s a very small number of Albertans who want to seperate, and even fewer of those who want to be Americans…doesn’t he?! I mean we’re OK with shipping them there, I guess…but they’re not bringing anything with them when they immigrate 🤷‍♀️ 👋

This is why I’ve been harping on the need for much stronger condemnations of the illegal US/Venezuela actions. Non-specific condemnations like @mark-carney.bsky.social and @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu made is why Trump is expanding his threats. Now is not the time to go all Neville Chamberlain on us.
Denmark’s prime minister has urged Donald Trump to stop threatening to take over Greenland after the president said the US “absolutely” needs the territory.

Frederiksen said: “It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the US needing to take over Greenland.

Canada isn’t on this list…but I do not believe for one second that it is off his list in general. He just knows that threatening Canada would risk a much harsher international response than he’s seen thus far. Which is shameful - the US should not be threatening ANY country’s sovereignty. Period.

Disappointed @mark-carney.bsky.social took all day to make a statement and then didn’t unequivocally call out the illegality of the US actions. I am glad that he spoke out about Maduro and he centred the Venezuelan people in his statement. For me, without calling out US, makes it feel a bit weak.

And so it begins.
Next stop on the War Tour:

Trump to Fox: “Claudia Sheinbaum is a good woman, but the cartels are running Mexico.

“She’s not running Mexico — the cartels are running Mexico.

“Something’s going to have to be done with Mexico.”

I’ve been in a long discussion this morning with someone who supports Ukraine but also believes it’s OK for the US to invade other sovereign nations. I can’t wrap my head around that. I agree wholeheartedly with Will Hutton’s statement.
“A dark moment.”

I’m beginning to fear that the silence of @mark-carney.bsky.social this morning on the illegal Venezuela attack is because somehow Canada is complicit with the US violation of international law.

I really hope he’s just slept in…but the silence is not a good look for Canada 😕

Canada needs to take see the invasion of Venezuela for what it is - a deliberate attack on the international rules based order. We have a bandit nation on our border and we need to be ready for whatever comes next.

Make no mistake, the attack on Venezuela by the Trump regime is not about removing a rogue leader; it is a deliberate attack on international law.

This!! Any approval of the US actions against Venezuela (no matter how much of a criminal Maduro is) is approval of the US doing this anywhere they feel like.
Imagine if Carney was part of a 'negotiated exit' by Pierre Poilievre?
Like even if that was what happened (it's not), would Canadians really be like 'oh that's good then'?
We should not accept America being the arbiter of other governments, even when Trump isn't president, jesus christ.
Sources in the Venezuela opposition tell Sky News that tonight’s operation to “capture” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, was part of a “negotiated exit” between Maduro and the United States.

Same people celebrating Donald Trump invading Venezuela would be celebrating Adolf Hitler invading Czechoslovakia.

And believe me it is exactly the same, next is Poland (Greenland), and then France (Canada).

If anyone thinks the US isn’t testing the waters with Venezuela for future actions elsewhere, you simply have not been paying attention. Maduro is a criminal. Trump, in authorizing this strike against Venezuela, is now no different than Maduro. Neither have any respect for the rule of law.
Whatever you might think of Maduro, the seizure and kidnapping of a head of state takes us to a very dark place. Vast, arbitrary, extra-legal power, which could be exercised almost anywhere, regardless of the character of the target government.
January 3, 2026 at 1:36 PM
Canadians pay attention to what is happening in Venezuela. I’m not saying VE’s political situation is the same as #cdnpoli (Maduro is a criminal) but what is the same is what the US wants. Unfettered access to oil, critical minerals, and subservience. US has overthrown a gov to get those things.
