This is bilge. The asylum pact actually *speeds up* refugees getting an EU long term residence permit after 5 years (because time spent as an asylum-seeker now counts in full). Member States can still issue a national long term residence permit on more favourable terms.
Migration experts, help me out:
Does the EU Migration & Asylum Pact prohibit member states from giving refugees access to a permanent residence permit?

(Political parties currently trying to form a government in the Netherlands claim it does)

I used to have a friend who was in the SWP.

This is (apart from the bit about the internet) exactly what he believed.

It's actually a deeply patronising, very middle-class, very rose tinted student-Marxist view of working people that is completely divorced from any experience of life.
Zarah Sultana apparently wants to nationalise the entire economy including the Internet.

Putin:

Europe puts forward peace plan suggestions that are unacceptable for Russia.

Russia supposes Europeans will be able to return to negotiations if they take into account the realities on the ground.

My comment: Europe is an integral part of the peace negotiations

While "peace" negotiations continue, remember that Russia could simply stop the war at any time.

The end of the OBR is nigh?
We now know that the 2010s were a lost decade for economic growth and productivity - characterised by low public and private investment.

As my former Treasury Committee colleague says, our economic forecasts should properly count the benefits of spending and the damage of cuts.
The OBR has been making us poorer for over a decade.

They've underestimated the impact of public spending (cuts) on growth.

That has helped lead to a doom loop:

Cuts -> Lower growth -> lower revenues -> missed borrowing target -> more cuts etc.

We live in a world where public spending is consistently framed as 'bad' or a 'drain' and the benefits of public spending (including future reduction of costs) are ignored or viewed with suspicion. This inhibits long term thinking and stops us from viewing public services as an investment.

No matter how often it is repeated, what Moscow thinks "peace talks" and "ceasefire agreements" are for still confuses some Western counterparts.

Russia repeatedly gets what it wants because the other side focuses on ending the war, but Russia instead wants to win it.

A reminder that London is far safer than many major cities, that crime is falling and that racists hate both these truths because they undermine their vicious little divisive narrative.

Multiculturalism works. London works. And those who hate both things hate themselves most of all.
There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing
