It's a sobering moment as a writer when you learn that Poop and Learn by Willy Wiper is outselling not only your book but those of most of the authors you know.

You can buy someone both of my books for Christmas if you like. I won't mind.

Popped into Manchester yesterday and these were the images that persisted for me.

1. A Freddo tragedy.
2. THIS PAINTING.
3. Everywhere that was once cool now looking like this.

Last night I gave a talk in this later packed room about writing stories that confront embarrassing experiences. Proud of myself for finding a way to monetise a life of fucking things up.

Just realised that the physical edition of this magazine is the first time I’ve had a print ad for my book. And it features a quote from @jenniegauthor.bsky.social too. 🎷🎷🎷

If you’d asked anyone I went to high school with to name the kid least likely to write an article for a magazine called MAN that has a footballer on the front, they’d have likely said me. Or just sworn and thrown things at you because it was that kind of school.

My book is currently 47% off on Amazon, which is a great deal but also insane. Please buy it (dear god, please buy it) from a brick and mortar book shop or an ethical supplier like Hive or Bookshop.org Discounts feel good but not as good as not funding a billionaire's astronaut fantasies. #booksky

Every morning I make breakfast and place it on this too-small-for-the-job tray and honestly, I hate the way it looks at me.

My daughter sent me this photo of an ornament in a Christmas shop so I sent her this old Kinder Surprise ad and now she’s not talking to me.

1991 was the year punk broke. 1993 was the year I tried to convince my friends that heavy metal boogie played by folks wearing tasseled suede jackets was the album of the year. I was right though.

This week I'm listening to nineties albums that I loved and my friends couldn't have given two shits about.

Every now and then I’ll be searching for a photo on my phone and be delighted all over again by these images I saved from Facebook of Bob Hoskins as Wolverine.

I’ve been going through some old photos of my very elderly dog, Millie. While I wouldn’t want anyone else to say it, she really did look like bad taxidermy at the end.

I'm featured in the Yorkshire Times today re: an event I'm doing in Harrogate next week, where I'll be recreating a mortifying memory from my teens. The last time I did this on stage in 2018 I found the whole thing so emotionally taxing that I burst into tears.

That whole gig is on YouTube, I think. I’m a silhouette on the front row. I got the setlist.

Enjoying a trip to the garden centre and a little cake in the cafe afterwards. Also that everyone who knows me is aware that I enjoy a trip to the garden centre and a little cake in the cafe afterwards.

Thanks to an enduring cost of living crisis and the imminence of Christmas, it's my duty to tell you that my latest book is basically half price right now. Stocking fillers for all. #booksky

If I didn't have a cry during the Soundgarden Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction then I'd have been betraying my teenage self. I did not betray my teenage self.
