Welwyn Hatfield, Hertfordshire, cycling stuff. Likes 30-40 mile rides, especially by water and with a tent. Likes trains and travelling on them.
Poem on the Elizabeth Line in London. It was the line about "respectable senators" that got me. @sanders.senate.gov please carry on being disrespectable. The world needs you more than ever.

I do like this little scheme on Bayley St - just off Tottenham Court Rd.

This was a signal controlled junction from a one-way street, contraflow cycling was added & then the junction filtered with a cycle track.

Now it's a bike lane & a new public space with SuDS. 🚲☔️☘️💚

As I took eCargo bike out today I thought I would also check what Essex Highways was doing for weeks on the narrow shared path with barriers. Happy it's been partly widened, tidied up & barriers removed. Not perfect as narrower lower down but is way better than before.

In 2024, more than 1,600 people died on UK roads. Yet a major new road safety strategy has passed largely unnoticed. This reflects media acceptance of road danger and a societal complacency—an “it won’t happen to me” mindset. Sadly, it can, and by then it is too late. How do we change this?

Nigel Farage wants to get rid of the NHS and replace it with US style insurance.

Can you afford $50,000 for a broken leg, $500,000 for a new heart, or $2,000,000 for cancer.

Or are you dying?

Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.
