Bunty's contralto solo was lovely, full of spirit:

Hark! the unwashed racists sing,
"Make Tommy R our chosen King:
pieces of earth, and stone do rile
Brexit never reconciled!"
Pity, all ye nations, sigh,
GoFund ol' Tommy to the skies;
with the angelic Nigel F,
"Shame is brought to Birmingham!

Isn't it strange that you should say that? The first time that the people had the choice of Churchill was in 1945 when he received 36.2% of the vote, whereas Attlee got 49.7%. Even in Woodford, his own constituency where Labour and Liberal did not oppose him, 27.5% preferred an unknown independent

Is that ice cream for the dog? I suspect it was a treat. The child would have to pay, which says all you need to know about GB.

I think you can see the horses legs if you look through the wheels of the cart.

This is nothing new. I remember that the US historian Stephen Ambrose wrote about the 2nd World War: only one country entered the war and came out richer and that was the USA. The war pulled it out of depression and gave it access to markets through Lend/Lease and to the countries of the Empire.

It is always good to see BJ at party time, despite his last go at organising a shindig resulting in the 'Boys in Blue' coming around, just as a suitcase full of Bailey's Original arrived. It was so unfortunate that his mates turned on him. Is Ann W going to play the principal boy?

I couldn't bear him, a total narcissist, if I was on my own, when he was on the remote found another channel.

Stanley Baxter's Christmas spectaculars used to be a thing. Here is the 1975 skit on Towering Inferno.

This is all well and good but there are days when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. One thing we do have as an island is tides twice each day we should be concentrating on how we can control some of its disadvantages as well as hydro electricity from our major rivers.

Was the introit hymn:

Eternal Nigel, not very brave,
Whose arms exploit the unwashed naves,
Who bid'st the mighty coffers deep
No appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee,
For more donations from overseas.

Is that the 'Night Mail Crossing the Border' between the historic Lancashire on the north side of the Mersey and Cheshire on the south side? Great painting.

Perhaps he could start with not having a coronation? Most of the European houses do not have them.

I thought the first episode was good when it asked the question about the purpose of the monarchy and whether it truly functions. The level of answers it got were poor. The second episode was interesting, although we knew something of tax status and level of income the two Duchies have amassed.

Secretary and made him a Lord, so he could answer questions in the Lords, now he is no longer a minister why hasn't he renounced his peerage? Why not take away these two peerage and 23 other like Baronesses Owen of Alderley Edge, Mone, Coffey, and Baron Gove, Harper and Bailey.

Thatcher had been the last PM to become a Lord - her successors Major, Blair, and Brown did not take peerages. Then May left the Commons & became a peer, why? if she wanted to take part in the governance of the UK she could have stayed in the Commons. Then Sunak wanted Cameron to be Foreign/

Have we heard anything from the brains behind the scheme, the former Chancellor and PM, Rishi Sunak?
Let's also remember that Lord Agnew, at the time a government Front Bencher, resigned over Covid fraud.

Pour Kemi, try as she might, she has been unable to find companies that welcome the increase in costs. She would rather that workers have their pay propped up by Universal Credits paid for by the taxpayer.

I am not currently watching, I stopped when they took their break. For me the living on the street/county lines/modern slavery, whilst all in themselves of interest have been too full on for me - I watch a documentary about each but not Emmerdale trying to squeeze the last drop of drama out of them
